New CTD

Powerstroke convert (sort of)

Ordered a 2005 on 1-27-05. It's a 3500 SRW QC LB automatic. I was told it would be 6-8 weeks. Do you think I'll get it that soon? My last truck in 95 took 6 months (Chevy) What kind of tires will I have? I ordered the 265-75-R17 on/off road optional tires. Some people tell me the auto trans is junk, so I guess that is my biggest fear about the Dodge. I plan on leaving the engine pretty much stock. I can't wait to get the truck. We farm and will take the truck and stock trailer to Milwaukee in July for the Hereford Junior Nationals. Thanks and any advice you can give to a new owner would be appreciated. Doug

congratulations on you new truck!

can't answer some of your questions. 6-8 weeks seems about right.

i wouldn't worry about the trans, as long as you are staying stock. yes dodge is behind with their 4 spd auto, but it should hold up ok.

where abouts in ohio are you?

there aren't very many of us up north here.

I have 24000 miles on my 04' and over 6000 on my 05' both auto's and I don't take it easy on them, don't worry about it! Congrats on the new CTD, your gonna like it! :D

Congrats on your new truck

I would just change the transmission filter and replace the fluid that comes out with the filter every 15 to 20,000 miles and you should have no problem.

someone somewhere told me some good advice about these trucks and so far it's been pretty good for me.

Drive it like you stole it :-laf

I am like you with a truck on order (2-7-05). Build date for mine is 2-23 if you can believe customer service. They tell me I should have by the second week of March, that would be 5-6 weeks. I hope they are right.

If you're worried about the transmission, the thing I did was have a performance valve body installed on it. This allows more fluid to flow through it, beter lubrication & cooling. Had one installed on my '97 and no transmission problems ( 75,000 mi. later ). Hope this helps. Congrats on the new truck, John

I ordered mine on 12-8-04 and It showed up 2-8-05, right at 8 weeks! I love the truck, almost 1000 miles on it now. Going to hook up the car hauler and load the old F-250 on it and go for a 3 or 400 mile cruise to break it in. Just as soon as the roads are a little better up here.

I got my new truck!

Actually have had it for about 3 weeks. I really love the truck. Runs, drives great, good power, only a very miniscule vibration at 70 mph. Slight shudder on takeoff. Pulls left a little, might need front end alignment. We got a Ram 3500 q. cab srw, 48re, bright silver, rhino liner, b & w turnover ball hitch, husky floor liners, mopar mud flaps. Purchased from Arena Dodge, Dayton OH. Took about 8 weeks. Sold 95 Chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 for $7000 dealer offered $4000 to trade. Doug :)

Congrats on the new truck! a little jealous here. As to Dodge transmissions- I'm sure you'll get many varied answers. You're getting the 48RE - 4 speed, load range 8, RE for electronically-controlled (mummbo-jumbo). I can only say that my '98 came with 47RE (one load range rating down) and with regular fluid changes, band adjustments, it has been beautiful - for 180K!! Best of luck!!!
