new here-so excited!

New Guy

I just purschased a 2002 Ram 2500 ctd 5 speed 4x4 extended cab short bed and i am looking for a little more power. The truck has 73,000 miles on it and is in good shape, the motor is still under warranty until 100,000 im told. Truck is stock except for strait 3" exhaust. I am looking for a small do it yourself upgrade to give me a little more power for towing and maybe throw some black smoke. Any reccomendations on chips or tuners?

thanks

joe

I would go with a Edge EZ module. You will gain 65 HP and you do not have to worry about burning up anything on the truck. You will also gain better fuel economy out of the truck to.

which chip or programmer

I have a fairly stock truck (see profile), have a 5" exhaust and AFE2 air filter. Believe the next step would be to throw in a chip or program it? Looking for recommendations. I would like to get the use out of my current modifications. Some say edge juice with attitude (nice to have the gauges) some say firefly. are most going to affect the fuel economy the same? Are some better than others. Would be nice to have the option for both economy and power. Second question- by adding the power, then what might fail? The clutch?

Just FYI

... the motor is still under warranty until 100,000 im told.

Alot's been posted on that here. A carefull read of the warranty book reveals that the engine is covered untill 136,000 miles or 8 years from the "new" purchace date, which ever occurs first. Your dealer will probly argue this.

Or just MOD to your heart's content, and repeat to yourself what so many have before: "I am my own warranty station!" :-laf

Happy motoring and welcome to TDR!

I got a power puck that adds 50 hp and 150ftbs it not adjustable but did me good, the only reason I took it off was I added injectors and a adrenaline is on its way. If you want a cheap chip though you could have it for $100 shipped and its like a 2 minute install

If I had the knowledge (and option) when I got my truck I would have saved alot of time and money and upgraded the lift pump first and then an Adrenaline and been happy. 2-3mpg gain and 180hp whenever I want it! PLUS guages! and now the Pulse! OMG!! holy no brainer, Batman!!! Quadzilla
