First Tow with New Rig

Well, they called Saturday and my new Alpenlite 5'ver is finally in. Pick it up Wednesday in Tacoma. So, I get to tow my old fiver over Tiger Mtn (for you local folks) and then tow the new rig back. Will be interesting since I know what it was like to tow old rig with 98. 5 2500 auto. Looking forward to this. Also looking forward to real trip since its been a while.

Well, today was the day. Pulled 8600 UVW fiver over Tiger Mtn to Tacoma today to pick up new 12000 UVW Alpenlite. Going south with the old trailer I maintained 55 in fifth with EGT's at about 900. Had lots of peddle left but WSP was following me up the grade. Coming back north I was doing fine up the grade until an 18 wheeler slowed for construction. Was doing 45 in 4th at the top and EGT's stayed below 900. When I got home I realized the water tank was full, another 800 lbs!! This HO pulls a lot better than the old automatic and the difference between 4 gears and 6 is awesome. Some day I have to add the splitter and go to 12! I drove the truck into town later today without the trailer and I swear it has loosened up a lot. Two more weeks and we take her out for the weekend.

Congrats on the new 5er. Our new 5er is going out in one week. I was very impressed with the better ride and control the 5er has over a TT.
