Towing

Pilot Driver

What can I say, awesome. Tow as fast as you want on any grade and the only thing you have to worry about is EGT's. Works for me!

Trailer is a 32' high profile fiver with slide out weighting in an 10K. transmission is a DTT 89 TC/VB, update kit with billet hub and input shaft. Best money I've spent on bombs, bar none. I was really happy with the transmission before I towed with it, now I'm just amazed. What a difference. If your on the fence don't hesitate, it ain't cheap but it's worth it.

Hope to do the DTT very soon. Planning to do it sometime this month. Looking forward to pulling our 32' trailer this year without the worries I had last year.

Ditto :)

18' Car Hauler loaded with RR Ties on 500 mile trips. Lots of long stretches and some high mountain ranges.

Trans temps never got above 180 in heat of the summer and stay at 125 unloaded.

Single most significant and most noticable BOMB I've done. It's like driving a completely different truck.

Glad you're happy with it!

I would have to agree that these modified transmissions are one of the best things if not the best upgrade to do to the auto transmission trucks.

Mine gets done tomorrow 01/11/03 by Fred at Desert Diesel Parts. Hope I get excited about the upgrades as the rest of you.

Do yourself a favor...

Pack a nice lunch, get a cooler full of ice and pop and go for a nice long road trip the day you get it - no ohter interruptions.

Yes. Put down the remote for a day and plan to live out of your truck for the weekend.

You'll be glad you did :D

Ok guys, easy question. How much did you spend? Beside the cost of labor, what did you get for your money (TC, VB, master kit, seals, etc... ... )?

TIA

Glenn did ya put in the transmission yourself? I don't know of any DTT dealer in the Odessa area,I have the shop to do the install. and was woundering if you could just order and in stall yourself. Harv

Call Bill K at DTT and talk to him. They have shops all over the USA where they know the shop will do a good job. Sometimes you have to drive a ways to do it. I had to drive over 100 miles and leave my truck, but I was satisfied with the result. Ask -- email address removed -- for their phone number and then call. I have called them several times and they have been a big help.

James Northum in Midlothian installed it for me, be a little of a drive for ya but well worth it I garantee it. Is TDR handle is inarush76 send him a PM (or me) if you want his phone #.

Ronco,

http://www.dieseltrans.com/pricing.htm all prices are posted and there is a toll free # if you have any questions. I paid 3100$ for tc/vb/update kit/billet hub and input shaft/labor, if I remember right.

I had Fred Swanson do mine. 250 miles one way. I would do it again even if I had to pay again. Fred is one of the best guys I have ever met. Even if he wasn't an installer I would still call him to talk. You will be super happy with the new transmission. I have TAXED mine about as hard as you can and it still just pulls and pulls. Congrats:D

DTT

BFC, you forgot to add for the billet shaft and hub. Also I only did the upgrades kit, not the master.

Each truck will vary in price as each truck is done for the particular application and use.

Did Jim Fulmer's truck at about 270 hp and he is now around 440hp and no slippage. :D

DTT builder/installer

James,

I mentioned the hub and shaft, eyes are the first thing to go with old age I'm told;) :p :D What the difference between upgrade and master kit?

This is the way it should come from the factory

Okay

Went over to Desert Diesel Parts where Fred did the complete DTT trans. All I can say is "This is the way the factory should have done it". No more mushy shifts and the truck definately gets with the program and never looks back (which is good because I need to outrun the bill collector:D ). There was a little snafu as the smartbox was to be installed at the same time but did not arrive. Scheduled for install this Sunday 01/19/03. This is a whole different truck with the trans. mods. I would highly recommend modifying (or having it built like it should have been) as soon as it can be afforded. I will be hauling the 32' Citation to payson in a few weeks and am sure it will be a better experience.

Thanks Fred and DTT.
