Since it has warmed up here in MD I couldn't resist taking my 5th wheel for a test run. I live in Emmitsburg, MD and drove up about 40 miles past Sideling Hill Rest Area on HWY 68 in western MD. The truck performed better that I thought it would going up the hills and down. Going up sideling hill I had it on cruise at 65 and it held that speed. Going back down I did not have to use the service brakes at ALL. I had a 2005 Ford 6.0 and going up that hill the best I would have done would have been about 40 and going down I would have had to use my service brakes numerous times. I was pulling a 12000 5th wheel. I average 10.6 mpg for the 160 mile trip, that was hand calculated. The EVIC stated 10.8 mpg. I was very very impressed with the truck!

Good to hear, I have quite a few towing miles on my 13 and LOVE it. I also have a 04.5 that has lots of towing modifications and the new truck will stay right with it BONE STOCK!!! I would assume that the step from any manufacturer 05 truck to a 14 would be impressive. But my opinion is that if you want to tow heavy the RAM is the best of the bunch.

They do tow nice. Interesting comment about the EVIC mileage display. Mine shows very close to hand calculated mileage too. The mileage calculation display on my '05 was always very optimistic but this new one is accurate enough to trust. When I stop for fuel I find that I can guess almost exactly how many gallons it's going to take just by looking at the EVIC.

I think you are going to be very pleased with your new truck. I had a 2004 Ford 6.0. It did a wonderful job towing my 14000 lb. 5th wheel just couldn't see puting any more money in the engine to keep it going! I am really pleased with my new Ram. As compared to the Ford it is an overall improvement in every aspect of operation.

Nice truck!! .......I live a few miles south of you in Boyds, Md. I have a 2013 and tow a 40' Toyhauler and it does very well despite having 3.42's. Love the mileage!!

Glad to hear how well it towed up sideling hill. I have only towed about 20 or 30 miles up 301 toward Delaware so far. Can't wait to get out and see how well it really does on the road.
