Phoenix(Mesa) to Flagstaff (170 miles, 6000' increase in elevation), 106 degrees outside, 19400 GCW 65 MPH average, 75 once I topped 'the rim' at 7000 feet, EZ only on 1. Finished the trip at a hair over 10mpg, had to back off on a couple of hills to 55 due to EGT getting a bit high.

Interesting note, the EZ messes the MPG up by about 9%, the tires decrease the indicated speed and miles by about 9%, therefore the EZ effect on the guage is a wash, indicated MPG is actual on my truck, just the speedo was wrong.

98 Gallon Transfer flow goes in this week.

Dieselman, sounds like it should be about broken in by now. That was a good workout.

The family and I spent the night in Flagstaff on the way to the North Rim of the "Big Ditch" not long ago, we all fell in love with your part of the world. I checked a local real estate rag and property values were depressingly high. Must be all those foreigners ;) .

Good luck with the new ride.

Yes, the tires are about 8. 1% greater in circumference, therefore the mileage reads 8. 1% less, as does the speed, and when I calculate that mileage compared to the pen and paper pump mileage, the EZ effect is less than 1% difference from actual.

The EZ basically has the effect of delivering more fuel at a given throttle setting than the ECU believes is being used, and therefore the computer reports a lower fuel consumption than is really occuring.

Also, given 3 150+ mile trips I've made at EZ1 / EZ3 and EZ4 settings, I think the increase in fueling is the same for all settings except that the additional fueling comes into play at lower and lower boost levels. The Position 1 changes little unless boost averages above about 15 lbs, 3 appears to be about 10 or less, and 4 is no boost required or very little boost, maybe 1-3lbs. All SOP augmented with cruise control and a calculator of course.

I'm leaving mine on 3. Position 1 with the truck empty and the pedal light and mellow does nothing for the truck or to the mileage at all that I see.

I also just did my first heavy haul last week, figure I was real close to 32,000# gcvw. was about a 100 mile trip, but no mountains here in WI like you had to deal with. Don't have an EGT gauge yet so I didn't push it real hard but it had no problem rolling down the road at 65. 2 hills slowed me down to 55 but I never put all the power to it because of no guage.

Do you have a different exhaust or anything to help with EGT's ?

This week end I have another heavy coming up around 29,000#. Suppose to have my X-Monitor by then and a Scotty Ram Air III also. Then I will beable to really get after it and see what happens.

My first heavy pull-I had 2200 miles on OD and towed a 14,000lb fiver from Orlando to West Palm Beach. Set cruise control at 65 and averaged 10. 2 mpg. I hope to see 11+ after truck is broken in and synthetic added all around.
