I have tried twice now unsuccesfully to have my truck set up for my fisher plow. Apparently when Fisher designed the mount they used a gas truck for the guinea pig and when the diesels hit the streets they found a problem. The intercooler hits the mount. .
The first time I brought the truck to the Fisher dealer which was in September the shop guy walks out to my truck and says "we have problem" and I said " oh yeah whats that" and he say's "it's a diesel" so I say " no kidding I told you that on the phone" so he tells me about the mount being designed wrong and they are waiting for a new design and to check back in the middle of November.
Monday November 18th I call plow guy about mount and he says he just got them friday but he can't get my truck in the shop until December 16th because he's "very busy". Personally I think he should bump another customer for me considering we started this game when it was 80 degrees outside and now it could snow at any time and I have two churches and a dozen or so driveways to plow and this is my only truck. (I do have a back up plow guy but then he get's all the $$$$) but apparently I am not that important to him. (even though I bought the plow from him last year)
So I contact a different Fisher dealer and explain that I have an 03' diesel ram and I need the "on truck setup" (frame mount and wiring) put on and I mention they need the revised mount. The fellow says "no problem can you have it here Thursday (today) and I said "absolutely.
2:30 in the afternoon I get a call and the plow dealer says "we have a problem" I think hmmm. I've heard that before so I say "oh yeah whats that" and he says "your truck is not designed for a plow because it's a diesel" And I said "no crap it's a diesel I already told you that, and also Daimler Chrysler seems to think to think it can plow hence the factory plow prep package", and I also told him that another dealer has this revised mount in stock. He says "let me call Fisher engineering and I will call you back". Twenty minutes later the phone rings and I here "you were right about the mount and I will have the correct one on monday and bring the truck back then.
So now that I have vented to you guys, make sure if you want a fisher plow that you specify several times that your truck is a diesel and you need the revised mount. Good Luck.
