Fisher plow problems

My plow went limp this morning while cleaning up the lot at work, I can grab the blade and swing it side to side, i ended up drilling the frame and bolting it in the straight ahead position, The solenoid driving my elctric pump failed, so I ended up plowing the lot without being able to lift it either, needless to say it was a trying experience. I have a remote electric pump driving the old style Fisher setup, under the hood connected with cables to the joystick in the cab, I know their is an overload in the hydraulic circuit to protect the system, is there something akin to a shear pin that is replaceable or should it be self resetting after an overload, i have been beating the daylights out of the whole system lately

Seems the solonoids are the first to go in our systems. Infrequent failure, but it happens. Did a new solonoid not fix the problem. Motor not run after solonoid replaced may indicate a burned out motor.



Make real sure of your grounds and hot connections. These pump motor draw alot of current, and marginal connections are hard on the components.



We use mostly Boss systems, with a couple of Meyer and Monarch mixed in.

Turns out it was just a bad ground. I have the pump mounted up on the right inner fender, it is an old hydraulic lift gate pump and does draw a lot of current. The only reason I can think for it not having any resistance to turning left or right would be that it had worked some air into the system while being run so much with not having fluid pumped to them, once I cycled it back and forth it was fine, though I did have I did not get fast response the first time doing it... now that I get a chance to look I have a lot of welding to do before the next storm though... in fairness to fisher this plow has more miles on it than most peoples trucks... .
