Hello everyone :)

This is my first post here! I'm a Chevy guy from Sweden about to convert to my first Dodge RAM 2500.

I've been looking for a Dodge CTD truck for over six months and now I've finally found one that fits my bill... however it seems to have a murky past.

I ran a CARFAX on it and this is what I got:

Code:
08/11/2003 Arizona Police Report File #11841619

Accident Reported

in Maricopa County

Vehicle involved in crash

with another motor vehicle

Minor or moderate damage reported

07/22/2004 95,000 Arizona Motor Vehicle Dept. Phoenix, AZ

Title #AH00004204020

New owner reported

JUNK TITLE/CERTIFICATE ISSUED

DISMANTLED TITLE ISSUED

REBUILT TITLE ISSUED

07/31/2004 Arizona Motor Vehicle Dept.

DISMANTLED TITLE ISSUED

I've gone over the truck with a "fine tooth comb" and everything looks nice and straight. I can't find any obvious repair work. It drives good too for all I can tell but I'm still sceptical.

When looking into the history of a Chevy I can turn to a dealer and have them print out the build sheet, service history, warranty work and so on from GM VIS (Vehicle Inquiry System). The problem with Dodge is that we don't have any dealers here in Sweden that I can turn to.

Can anyone in here please help me get the history on the truck I'm looking to buy?

I need all the info I can get to help me get an idea on what repairs have been done and the extent of damage it has suffered.

VIN: 3B7KF2365YG113517

Thanks,

Stefan

Welcome Stefan, it's good to see another Scandinavian here :)

I can't help you much with the history of the truck you have in mind. I was also looking for a long time for a good truck here in Norway, but I came to the conclution that 95% of the trucks on the market here where dogs. A lot of the importers just cruise eBay for a good deal or buy trucks through fishy used car dealers unseen.

My solution was to fly over and found my new truck myself in US. It's really easy to do and I saved 100 000. - NOK doing it myself, pluss I got a really nice truck that have never seen salt before.

Are the truck you have in mind over or under 3500kg? If you can drive a truck over 3500kg I know of a really nice loaded 2001 QC that might be for sale in goteborg.

You can send me a PM if you need any help or advice. My Swedish is quit good since I'm only 40 minutes away from Stromstad :)

Even if the truck is clean, be sure you don't pay too much. The resale value of a salved vehicle is much lower than a standard unit. You can look up the value of salved vehicles on line (blue book) to make sure.

Hi there neighbour :D

It's a little to late for importing one on my own I'm afraid :(

The rules for registering trucks changed a couple of months ago so now it's impossible to get Dodges, Chevys and Fords titled in the "under 3500kg" category.

I'm not licensed to drive stuff over 3500kg

my question would be what are your local laws and regulations surrounding imported vehicles. If i'm reading this right it's in Sweden now? if so, my first guess would be they exported it out of the states to try and hide its history or for a better chance of it not being disclosed during a transaction overseas.

I'm inclined to say walk away if that is the case.

I have an Illinois rebuilders license. (by the way they are rather easy to get, have a shop, pay a fee and you're licensed. ) If the tables are turned and this truck is still in the U. S. and has undergone the proper inspections to rebuild and re-title it in the US (Arizona, i presume) then I would probably buy it if all the paperwork where in order including reciepts for all parts used and work orders for things like alignments, frame service or other mechanical work.

For example, if they put a used rear end under it you should have a reciept showing how many miles were on it or if it were rebuilt or better yet, remanufactured prior to installation on the vehicle. you dont want a truck with 95K on the chassis and 200K on the junk yard rear end used to repair it. follow me?

automobile insurance co's only allow a certain percentage based on the age of a vehicle of used parts versus new parts used to repair the vehicle. this is probably why it was totaled in the first place.

In the rebuilders world, its anything goes. The cheaper the parts you build it with the more profit to be had. As long as it passes that states' inspection process. Even those can vary based on county and the inspection station used to perform them. some states contract to service stations and other automotive related vendors to perform these inspections.

I got a reply from Dodge today but all they could pull was the RPO list. They didn't have any records on any service, repair or warranty work.

Guess I'm gonna have to walk away from this one :(

Thanks to everyone for your replys and input :)

/Stefan
