I took my wifes remote in to be reprogrammed. This is because the dealer didn't tell me to bring it when I had the CTM replaced last year. My wife doesn't drive the truck very often, so we didn't discover the thing would not work until last week.

We are going to Florida to catch the Winston Cup race at Homestead and to do some fishing for a week or so. So I decided I would get her remote working before we leave since I will have more than 36,000 miles on the truck when we get back home.

When I arrived at the dealer and checked in at the service desk, I told the service writer that the procedure to turn on the cold fast idle had not worked. This had been a pretty heated issue when I tried to get them to enable this fast idle in three previous trips to the dealer. He made a comment about their inability to do it because the software apparently wasn't in the truck, so I made a comment about there being hundreds of these trucks with it enabled and since the software was already in the ETH's, it was probably because their software was out of date at that time. Then I gave him both remotes and went to the waiting area.

When the truck was ready I returned to the service desk and he said they had to order a new remote for my wife because hers would not send a signal. I bit my tongue and refrained from commenting the battery might be dead because the remot stays in her purse. Then he told me he had the truck "reflashed" to enable the cold fast idle. I'm hoping it will work this time.

Now for the kicker. When I go outside to get in my truck I see the door is standing open. When I arrive at the door I see the DRBII layind in the floor on the drivers side! It is hooked up and operating. The "technician" forgot it!! I went back inside and told the service writer about it. There were a couple of management types standing there. One of them comment that this was the second time that same tech had done something like this and that is a $4,500 instrument! The last time he had set it on the trunklid of a car and then took off on a roadtest. Anoter employee spotted it as he passed the window and gave chase in another car. He finally caught this clown in the next town, nine miles from the dealership.

I sure as hell hope his workmanship is better than his memory. :D
