My 96 truck's clutch pedal would squeak and drive me nuts.

So - EXTREMELY EASY FIX!!!!

I bought 6 bushings (2 for brake, 2 for clutch pedal, and 2 for the pivot rod) from the dealer - part number 4294639.

Remove the plastic dash cover under the steering column. (about 6 or 7 screws)

There is an "E" clip on each side of the pivot rod holding the brake/clutch pedals - remove the left side and pull the rod out from the right (won't go all the way to the left - it hits a heater vent. )

Remove the bushings from both pedals, and from the bracket the rod slides through. Lube and install new bushings, lube the rod and install it. Reinstall E-clip and make sure your brake lights go on and off properly (that you didn't move the brake light switch).

What a difference - MUCH smoother and no squeak. It is much better now than just using wd-40 or something sprayed all around the place.

Hope this helps someone.

Mine used to squeak where the rod went into the piston. I tried everything from graphite to silicon lube to grease (which I squirted into the area with a syringe). I even replaced the whole assembly once and the replacement did the same thing. I could get the squeak to go away for a while but it would eventually come back. It was slowly getting less noticable, however, after 20K miles.
