Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Fix one thing-Break another

Hey guys here's my problem. In the process of replacing my clutch fan, I hit the blow bye assembly hard with the wrench breaking off the front section exposing the steel wool looking material. My question is, can I remove that part to replace it, and how? I came up with a quick fix using some heavy duty plastic rap and rubber bands to stop oil from getting all over. Seems to be working for the time being. Any kind of help on this is welcome. Thanks

The local Dodge or Cummins dealer usually has them in stock. If I remmeber correctly, they are about $35.

It comes right off. If the housing is still intact just take a filter wrench and twist it counter clockwise.
