Today while driving I noticed a vibration on the highway when I hit about 70mph, but it would take time to build up to be noticeable. Almost like driving over a very slight rumble strip. I'd slow down and it would go away.

Also found that the transmission would shudder a lil when coming to stop.

Since the only change between today and yesterday was the lift blocks I put on the rear, I figured that had to be the culprit and likely my pinion angle was out of wack.

BUT, before I made any hasty moves, I sat down and drew out my problem and though about it.

The blocks I purchased, had two different lengths on each end. The vendor instructed me to put the tall side forward. Ok, I did. But now that I looked closely, it would point the differential downwards, rather than upwards.

I'm thinking this guys a moron, so I call the place today and get a different person to talk to. He tells me that the blocks are right, and my problem is that I need to shim the carrier bearing support. Ok.

I think about it some more. It still doesn't make sense.

I call them back again and get a different guy. I go through the scenario for him making it VERY clear to him that our leaf springs are on TOP of the axle housing. He says, 'oh, the you need to spin the block around so the tall section is in the rear'. FINALLY, that makes sense. Then he puts me on hold and says he wants to check with a more senior guy.

He comes back and says, 'nope, i was wrong, leave the blocks as is and you need to shim the carrier bearing support'. ARGGGHHH!!!!!

I went home and said screw it. Pulled the blocks out anyway, flipped them around with the tall section in the rear--and voila, the pinion angle is now nice and straight.

I take it for a test drive--no vibration, no shudder.

Moral of this story--TRUCK SUSPENSION (aka tsliftkitstore.com) is run by a bunch of MORONS and I will be calling them tommorow to tell them that.

shims question

WebCrush,

Do you have a source for the shims you mentioned? I replaced the 4" blocks in my '98 4x4 with 2" blocks to get more clearance between the top of the truck box and the bottom surface of the 5th wheel trailer. All is well re: clearance, but I do get a bit of viabration when pulling hard. In my case, I would like to tip the front of the differential down to make up for the lowering of the rear truck height.

Just wondering if you had a source for the shims.

I don't know of any places for the shims other than TruckinSuspension who said they could provide them and I wouldn't trust them for anything they said.

Sorry.

I get the same vibration with my stock truck. I've had it sense day 1. The dealer won't address it because it happens at 70 mph and he has nowhere to test drive it at that speed. At 80 mph all is smooth and I don't hear or feel it under 70mph.

Anyone have any suggestions?
