Thanks, TDR Staff

Gee, I wish she was my Mom...

DVD vs DV Camcorder.

There isn't any laws against flags being on vehicles is there, i am working to prove an argument i have been having with someone local, i don't think there is but i am looking for other people who might know or has some experience, the flags are 3'x5' standard size confederate battle flags

stink

Can't comment on the law, esp. not in my state, but what is going on?

Sounds like you gonna stir up big stinko. I'm with you in that I have a

small battle flag on my back glass, but I just hope some psycho doesn't

break all your windows out or something - or you get in trouble for beating

the s**t out of them. I fought this battle when I was in the Air Force -

had a black 1st Sarge that forbade me to drive my POV on base with a

rebel flag on the front bumper. One thing, when you are in the military,

you only have what rights they see fit. I HATE political correctness!

Don't want to get into the old argument about how it stands for slavery -

if so, I guess the U. S. flag stands for Indian massacres! Just saying

that discretion is the better part of valor when it comes to sticking the

Stars and Bars in someone's face who doesn't like it.

I fly a 3X5 battleflag at the house. And my old bumper sticker faded so it's time to find a new one that incorporates the stars and bars and a Politically correct people suck message.

My girlfriend (who is black) likes the one I have that says "This flag is considered a hate symbol because of your ignorance". I have a 3'x5' battle flag and Georgia flag flying in front of my house and the Georgia flag on tags on all personal and company vehicles. I also have plenty of Confederate and Republican bumper stickers on my trucks.

Remember yall fellow Southerners: The "stars and bars" refers to the First National Confederate flag, not the "Battle flag" (Saint Andrews Cross) as is commonly mistaken. Fly em with Southern pride yall!!!

Here's more: Check out her shirt we had "custom modified" and got when we were in Helen, Ga. Mine is like it, except with "... White Boy" on it. She is an unusual and exceptional lady. We definately need more like my country girl in this world!

Here is a (not so great) picture of her when she was telling me not to take the picture. Notice the flag on my living room wall in the background. :D

kevin, i hope you do not lower your flags for that s*it head! #@$%! its sad that people do not understand the true meaning of the stars and bars. i have a t-shirt i outta take a picture of and post... . it says "if this flag offends you, study american history" with a big flag on the back of the shirt... .

keep us updated... heck put more flags on your truck... . just cause your from the south :-laf

i just made some poles from 1/2 inch conduit, i put the don't tread on me flag on, i am just waitin for him to say more.

basically i feel i have the right to run my flags on my truck where ever i go (1st amendment right) be it to the store or work, my supervisor says i can't run them to work in fabric or metal or sticker form, i work at a state park and for the peanuts i am being paid i am not gonna take my flags off my truck, i don't feel they have the right to tell me how to decorate my truck and am looking for any possible excuse they could use against me should it escalate to a higher power

I do not believe it is against the law to have a flag on your car as long as it is not obstructing the driver's vision or blocking a license plate, etc. Dumb little laws like that. Keep flying it proud!

Here is a good little story for you guys... . I live in a community of political correctness, well look at my sig, i'm in California. During middle school, I was one of the few whites at my school and about 80percent was of middle eastern decent. I would always get the white boy and go to your own school BS. Well, that stuff and fights got me into the other high school in the area that was mainly a 1/3 split of whites, asians, and middle easterners. I was fed up with the political correctness at school and all the BS that during my junior year i ran a confederate flag license plate on my camaro and a huge patch on my backpack. I did get lots of looks, not one person ever tried picking a fight with me. The administation even left me alone, that suprised me... . My girlfriend who was a sophmore at the time did get asked questions by students. Like, whos that guy with the confedertate flag, or why is your boyfriend in the KKK or a nazi. I just laughed, people were accually scared of me. That was never my intention, I just wanted to protest all this political correctness. Well, I am proud of what I did! The confederate flag is one of the last few "white pride" symbols left in society. Other races are aloud to freely show their pride for their race w/ symbols in society and even have their own race clubs at school. We tried starting a "Northern European Heritage Club" at school, that was shot down..... REBEL PRIDE!

I got pulled over about 3 times for no license plate in the rear, it was replaced with a confederate flag. I got a warning 2 times, one time I got a ticket by a white cop. He stated that I cannot be having the stars and bars on a car b/c it is a hate symbol. I told him to stop their or he and his department would be sued for discrimination. He shut up... . :)

I'm sorry, but the "confederate flag" (I assume you mean the battle flag... there were actually 7 "official" flags that flew over the Confederacy, the much hated battle flag being the last... the "stars and bars" started out as a Confederate Naval Flag... . ), had nothing to do with "white pride"... but had everything to do with States Rights. The entire secession was based on state's rights and the tarrifs that were being imposed on the southern farm society by the northern government/business community, and nothing to do with slavery, or white pride or anything that we have been taught by our edu. system. But what more can we expect... the winner writes the history.....

Race, color, sex, religion, and national origin are the only things protected against discrimination. Age and disability also came later. I don't think this "white pride" that you refer to would be covered under any of that, do you?

Carl - I totally agree with you. It's amazing how many people fly that flag for the wrong reasons. Most of them don't even know why they should be flying it.

Oh, and kissfan, to answer your question, as long as the flags or symbols are on your personal vehicle then your supervisor has no right to make you take them off. That is a violation of your 1st Amendment rights. ;)

But also remember that you can be fired for a good reason, a bad reason, or no reason, but you can't be fired for certain reasons. The certain reasons include those that I mentioned above. Basically, if your supervisor doesn't like the way you chew gum, he can fire you no questions asked. So keep that in mind if you want to keep your job. He may not be able to make you remove the flags, but he can find some other reason to fire you very easily.

Good luck.

finally someone that actually know what there talking about the flag of the Confederacy was like this the flag that is usually refered to as a Confederate flag was actually the battle flag i am so sick of being politicly correct i go to school the other day with a shirt with the battle flag on it and the principal tells me to go in the bathroom and turn it inside out i say why she said it offends people i say why is that she said because of what it stands for i said what is that she says it stands for white supremecy and slavery i tell her that she is very uneducated on the topic and that i refuse to take it off because that is taking away my freedoms she says that it is in the school hand book so i get it out in her office and there is not one thing about it in there but there is some thing about doorags and bandana and i ask why they do nothing about that she says we tryed and it didnt work well thats not a good enough answer for me i tell her i will be talking to her when she becomes educated on the topic until then dont do a damn thing about it because you cannot tell me what i can and cannot wear when it clearly states no doorags and i can see 5 of them from here until something is done about that and the gay pride club because that offends me i will not turn my shirt inside out and i will continue to wear it and i said thank you and walked out

this is the Confederate National flag

A little off Topic

There is a large black fellow I used to see on His Harley and he wore a giant Battle flag on he back of his Leather jacket. Not sure what statement he was trying to make but I figured it was either shock value or he really understood history possibly had relatives that fought in the civil war under that flag.

I have relatives that fought for the confederacy and about five letters from them. Nothing mentioned about slavery etc. in any of the letters. It is unfortunate that some of the hate groups in this country used the flag as thier symbol. Too many of us have ancestors that fought and died in that war and thier legacy should be honored.

Slavery was a bad deal but the slaughter of the American Indian was inexcusable. I am sure we have other black eyes as well but the bottom line is this country has mad giant strides towards equal rights for all since 1900 and our oppurtunities are better here than almost anywhere in the world. Those floks that want to constantly dredge up dirt from the past are not helping anyone. I agree you should be able to fly your battleflag just as someone should be able to sing the praises of thier heritage. The folks asking you to stop are ignorant and probably need the boots put to em.

No, displaying a symbol to show pride for your race, would be protected under the first word you typed, race... . Remember, there is nothing wrong with showing pride in your race. Politicians, educators, media have made people scared and think they are racist for doing that...

Dbogo- You hold your ground, don't stop and let the school get away with it... .

Oh good grief, Eric. You're the same kid that's obsessed with his throttle cable aren't you? Race refers to african-american, chinese, white, latino, etc. Not a symbol that some people have chosen to associate with that race. I would love to see you walk into a courtroom and tell some judge that you can fly the rebel flag because Title VII of the Civil Rights Act permits you to do so! LOL! :-laf Do a little legal research before you start doubting what I say about the subject.
