Light On The Flag

Bill Maher and ABC Corp.

Try to buy one today ? I did, every store in Vernon is sold out. Don't get me wrong here, I have one on the house that is always flown with pride, was trying to get one for the truck. Speaking of that, I have seen some great set ups today on vehicles. Two of my favorites, so far, include a beat up old Ford gasser pick up with pieces of angle iron flying two flags (guessing 4'x6') at half mast and a motorcycle with a custom built mast, had to be at least 8' tall, flying the flag again at half mast. Makes me real proud to be an American. God bless AMERICA !!!! And last but not least, many thanks to our friends in Canada !!!!!! It's great to have good neighbors.

My County is home to about 50,000 people. As of today, no store in any town in this County has flags... all sold. GREAT! Thinking about breaking out my cased flag flown over the USS Arizona memorial. I am a flag nut I guess. I have one from the top of the White House, one from the Guantanamo Bay Cuba base, one from the USS Saipan and the USS Nasua, one from Camp Lejune, and one from Camp Pendleton, one from the Arizona, and one from Nixons library the day 5 former Presidents were alive and in one place (I was there for that). I want to get one from the Iwo Jima War Memoril at Arlington. Someday I will donate them to the local grade schools for the kids to see and reflect on. Do you guys remember going out in grade school and raising the flag? How about the Pledge of Aligance before class? I dont think they still do this evryplace, but I wouldnt be shocked to see kids and teachers doing it now. Hopefully it will be another traditon picked up and used again with out having Supreme Court battles.

Oh ya, almost forgot the WWII Jap battle flag with the red meatball in the center captured by U. S . Marines during the war. Its hanging in my gun cabinet. Keeps the dust off things.

I have hung the flag that draped my Dad's casket. Couldn't buy a new one anywhere. My Dad spend 42 months as a Japanese POW. Captured on Corregidor, May 1942.

This is for you Dad and all of America!

Without knowing you or your dad... ... ... ... ... ... . I'm sure he would be proud of what you are doing with the flag!

Been trying to buy more since yesterday. . can't find one.

The rescue workers are asking for them too.

See a lot of signs at the entrance of the stores clearly saying that they have no flags left, "sorry". . or "regret to say"

Glad to see that, means lots of people are looking and asking.

And people bought what was out there and store owners know what it means.

I'm thinking of printing up a few, laminating them and putting them on the car antennas, since I can't buy em.

I have one flying on the house at 1/2 mast, since day one.

With the rain we just had, my neighbor's mount bent and left the flag dragging on the ground, couldn't let that be, they're at work, I'm working from the home office today... so walked over in the rain and rolled up the flag and put it in their porch.

Remember you have to light up old glory if you keep her out at night. Lets show her, but respect her.

Dad's Flag

Jumbo, I had the same problem in finding a flag and am doing the same thing. I took my dad's flag (WWII Navy in Pacific) out of the case in the closet to hang. I know he's looking down and approving.

Had all of mine at 1/2 mast till Sunday morning. .

The President had ordered all Flags flown to be @ 1/2 mast through this Saturday.

The ones on my truck were on the antennas... so just slide them up.

That makes the old eyeballs water a bit. But it also gives you a sense of pride like no other. Knowing that is the flag that adorned you family members casket and now is being raised in the biggest show of American patriotism in our history. That flag is more than cloth. It is more than a symbol. It is something that follows our men into battle, and drapes their caskets when they die. It is flown from tall poles, and hung from small-town porches. It really is America, land of the free, home of the brave. We are so lucky.

Burning a Flag

Flag burning in class probed: A Del Paso district teacher is placed on leave after allegedly taking a lighter to a corner of the fabric.

(Published Sept. 26, 2001)

A sixth-grade teacher at North Avenue Elementary School is on paid administrative leave while officials decide what disciplinary action to take against him for allegedly burning a portion of a U. S. flag in his classroom.

Officials with the Del Paso Heights California Elementary School District said the incident occurred Sept. 18, a week after the terrorist attacks on New York and the Pentagon.

The teacher, whom the district declined to identify, took a lighter to one corner of the flag and allegedly made statements such as "I can't burn it all 'cause that's illegal" and "Babylon is burning," according to the district.

==========================================

Supposedly the 1st Amendment guarantees the right to burn the flag.

Why do these hypocrites that burn the flag stay in the USA? If they hate it so much, why don't they move to some other place in the world? Would make it a lot easier on me.

This teacher is an idiot also. Starting a fire in a classroom.

The article, found in the Sacramento Bee, did not identify the person. Wonder why?

I wish a good ole a$$ whuppin was freedom of speech. There's just too many people around that needs one that hasn't had one.
