Has anyone had any recent experience regarding the Flaming River replacement steering shaft?

I've read pervious posts on the Borgeson with some positive and quite a few negative comments which leaves Borgeson out in my book. Flaming River seems to have all positive threads.

I don't know if I need the intermediate shaft replaced yet. ( Mine seems to have a very slight loose feeling when you try to shake it ). When I do I'm seriously considering the Flaming River unit.

Any comments????

I'm going to be changing the shaft in 97 4wd what were the negitives you heard about Borgeson?

I`m in line to change mine also, but Ive heard the universal joint itself could be replaced. . Probably cheaper than the whole shaft, if its available. . supposedly its called a 'pot joint' (no pun intended heh)

I, too, have found a loose feeling in mine when I grab it right at the slip joint and shake it. So, for comparison, I went to the local dealership and looked at a brand new stock shaft. I put one end on the floor between my feet and held the other end and grabbed the middle with my free hand and wiggled it. There is a little play even in the new ones. Its obvious from that test that mine is worn, but not by a lot. Without this test I had no idea by how much.

If your's has a slight loose feel, it may not be too bad, at least at the slip joint. There are other areas that can get loose from wear, however (u-joints).
