Ive just recently bought an 07 dodge 3500 5. 9L Cummins w/ 90,000 miles. I'm not postive but I have to guess something has been loaded on to the computer. It gets between 20 and 22mpg which is damn good if it is stock, It does have some get up and go. . I can also get it to smoke pretty good too. I just bought the CTS Edge Juice w/ attitude. I was wondering should I have it flashed to stock before installing it? And if I don't what problems would I run into?

Are you getting the 20-22 MGP from the overhead or the math you did on the fuel reciept?

I doubt you are getting that good of milage but it is possible.

It does sound like some mods have been done to the truck. Without knowing everything done to the truck you could run into trouble adding an Edge.

If you can I would suggest getting ahold of the previous owner and asking them what they did to the truck.

It could prevent a melted piston or a crank case full of fuel.

Yeah I'm getting the mileage from the overhead which ive always been told it not that accurate. When I bought the truck, I took it in and had the exhaust done there were 2 high flow mufflers on it. . I guess going for performance but not the sound.

Getting a hold of the pervious owners maybe more trouble then just taking it in and having it flashed.

Thanks for the help.

Well I get 20 - 22 mpg on the overhead on my 2005, but hand calculated it is alwyas 16 to 18, depending on what I am pulling and how fast I am going. Just saying that I wouldn't necessarily rely ONLY on the fact that the overhead is reading that high to conclude that the previous owner was running mods or a programmer.

Yeah I get what your saying about the mileage but I'm talking about the EGTs. When I install the edge Ill have the EGTs and everything else to monitor the motor. Now with the being said and I use the edge and whatever maybe or may not be on there do you think Ill have a possible melt down?. .
