I have 2001 2500 2WD with 195K on the ticker. I just recently borrowed a stock trailer to haul some cattle and had a few interesting electrical things happen. I have a Tekonsha (or something like that) brake controller on the truck, and the light on the controller would stay on at all times when connected to the trailer. Even when the truck was off and no key in the ignition. The main problem is the trailer (or controller) blew the flasher relay. No Problem, I got a new one and I was back in business. Today I was towing the trailer and the same thing happened. Only this time the new relay did not solve the problem. I check the fuses on the inside and they are all good. Does anyone know what fuses or relays to check under the hood? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

Problem solved... ... Turned out there were 3 blown fuses under the hood. Brake, Hazard, and Trailer... . All shot due to a screwed up trailer. Fun.

glad you found it, your Tekonsha brake controller should have a green light on anytime a trailer is plugged in, even with the key off. When you put your brakes on it should turn red. There's a short somewhere on the truck or most probably the trailer causing the fuses to blow

LBARTLETT... . Thanks for the info. I didn't know the green light would always remain on, good to know. I only saw the red light come on one time while braking. The brakes did function, but no red light. My best guess is the trailer has a short somewhere in it. I don't tow many trailers with brakes, so this was new for me... . Thanks Again.
