Hi fellow members I am asking for your help again. While my rig is about to be serviced real soon, I thought it might be a good idea to do this FLASH be fore I do upgrades with DTT. We continue to get valuable info from our outstanding service the T D R . So I thought I would check this out The TSB concerning Flash 18-024-00 ECM Troque Manager Power Output. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? I don't recall reading about this on the T D R the pros or cons if any. If I did it went past me and missed the FLASH any help out there? 2001 and improving.

Please respond quick thanks again... ... Nick

I had this flash done about 8 months ago. This was about a month after the TSB came out. I did notice a considerable amount of improvement in driveability when in overdrive. The engine did not lug as much. If you are planning on getting the DTT treatment, Get the reflash. DC probably won't reflash it if it has been modified. Remember thr reflash is for the computer (ECM) and will help driveability DTT upgrade or not.

Also make sure your motor built between engine serial numbers 56666444 to 56798357, with a date of manufacture of December 15, 1999 to November 15, 2000. This info is found on the engine data plate. This is located on the left side of the engine, affixed to the side of the timing gear housing.

When I went to DC for it I had all this info ahead of time and they just did it. No questions asked.

Tahnks Mactruck for the info. I did do my home work before i checked with the dealer about this FLASH I was just not sure it was a good thing.

By the way I noticed you have the power edge, how did you hook up to the wastegate,which method the turnbuckle etc. and if so how do you know how much pressure to apply to the wastegate.

The amount turns to take. Thanks Nick

Nickg,

I used the turnbuckle method w/ a spring. The spring allows the wastegate to not be totally disabled. I recommend this way on a HY35 because the efficiency range is limited to about 26 PSI. (HX35 is about 32 - 35 psi) Above this psi your turbo is just spewing superheated air and is not helping your engine.

When I installed it I cranked the turnbuckle all the way tought (you know, till the 2 ends inside the turnbuckle touch ;) ) and drove it and got 24 psi. When I added injectors it went to 26 psi.

If you totally disable your wastegate, you turn till its tight, but I don't recommend it.

Good luck, Kevin M.

Got Flashed

Had the dealer (whoops stealer I mean) do the flash on mine. Could not tell any difference. Took the truck back about 30 days later for poor fuel economy and they checked the ECM for upgrades and found NONE. The stealer stated that the first flash did not take and they re-flashed the unit again and;

There was an improvement :)

Not a big inprovement but at least an improvement :)
