Checking out the proverbial truck in a barn. If it is a keeper, I will be taking it home.

77 or 78, 318, auto. Can I flat tow it with transfer case in neutral, about 200 miles, or just plan on disconnecting the driveshafts? I may get a trailer, if I can find one.

If the original tires are on the Power Wagon, I'd rather haul it on a trailer. I wouldn't trust the old dry-rotted tires at highway speeds.

IIRC from the old days when I had a '74 International, to flat tow it put the transfer case in neutral and engage the front hubs. This will provide lube for the transfer case which would not happen if only the rear driveshaft was turning. Bill's advice is still the best espescially when you consider the tires.

As it turned out, the reality was an old truck, rotting away on a hillside at about 4500 ft. No battery, no interior, no hoses, mismatched wheels, missing gauges, rusted out above the wheel wells, and in the cab corners. I don't know what planet they were on, but when they said, a little gas and a jump start, and I could drive it; it would only be downhill to a scrap truck.

I was only a little upset, because I had a great drive thru some beautiful country, with my grand-daughter.
