Is it possible to tow a 3rd gen 2500 or 3500 4x4 behind a motorhome?
I know on a Jeep you simply put the transfer case in neutral and its ready to go.
Is it the same on the Dodge? Either with man or elec transfer case, just put it in neutral and unlock the steering.
Anyone done this?

Thanks.
Of course the MH will have to have a Cummins.
Any idea what a CC, SB 4x4 auto would weigh? I'm thinking around 6500-7k lbs

You'll need to be sure to add something to your pre-trip hookup and leave routine that absolutely guarantees that the transfer case is in neutral. Too many people have gotten in a hurry and left the transmission in neutral, but not the transfer case and wind up burning up the truck, sometimes the motor home as well.

The local auto club up here wouldn't tow my truck with 2 wheels on the ground, either front or rear, with out using dollies or pulling a drive shaft. They tell me they have had too many 4x4 NOT stay in neutral and destroy a t case. I have had it towed twice now and both times they used a flat deck. Neither time it was the fault of the Cummins.

As far as towing a full size truck behind a MH I have seen it done but think it is over kill. Better off with a smaller vehicle IMHO. David

I put my Jeep in neutral, transfer case engaged only for very short trips. Be very careful when saying something like "just put the transfer case in neutral". It really depends on the model. On mine you won't get proper oiling by just disengaging the transfer case. I used to pull the driveline for long trips, now I have rear hubs.

i have an 03 3500 2wd,when i was haulin boats and campers i flat towed it who knows how many thousand miles usually behind another 3500,but on a couple of trips i towed it behind a motorhome and you can feel that extra weight,my truck with all my work accessories and a 74gal in bed fuel tank scaled at 8900lbs. full of fuel with driver.
