First, this is in dream stage. I dont know if I can physically do this.

Question #1. Will a flatbed unit designed for a Ford(generic, newer model), fit on a 1st Gen Dodge frame. What kind of modifications? Ideas? A possibility has presented itself of an available steel flatbed with headache rack and hanging tool boxes ahead of the rear tires for ~$1000 OBO. Havent seen it, personally.

Question #2. Building one from scratch. Are any plans available? Uniform Dimensions? I would like to learn from those who have done this if possible.

I can borrow lifting equipment and get help to set it on the truck.

Thanks for your input. GregH

Ford/Chevy of that vintage have narrower frame rails than Dodge, direct bolt on doesn't work. You can use an offset frame adapter. I've built a flatbed from scratch for a B van chassis. It can be done, but you had best have considerable welding skills.

Thanks for the information on the frame rails, KOG. GregH
