Gooseneck hitch HELP

Looking for a specific type utility trailer...?

I am going to remove the stock bed off of my 3500. Trying to decide if I am capable of building a toter style bed myself OR save up and buy one. . Any recommendations on builders. .

I see in your sig you have two 3500's, the 01 may have a different frame from the 04. Hydroformed vs u-channel, when I bought my 04. 5 I found out after the fact that a slide in camper not recommended (don't remember the exact statement) and some bed installers would not install utility beds on them. That is the main reason I chose the C&C. There was some talk about the hydroformed frame cracking just behind the cab.

CM beds are inexpensive and my B&W cost a bundle, but I would recommend getting qoutes from all manufactures, just to find out. My neighbor had one fabricated for his F450, and said it was a lot cheaper than buying one from a manufacture, but I needed the B&W bed due to the versitility of it.

The 01 does have the different frame than the 03 and up. It is narrower and a C channel.

Big Tex Trailers bought CM Beds about two years ago. I think many if not most Big Tex Trailer dealers should be CM Bed dealers now also.

We had a CM hauler bed on our 5500. It was a great bed for towing. It had a channel that the 5th wheel/gooseneck ball was in. Gobs of room on deck. It also had 4 built in boxes as part of the bed. 1 larger and one smaller on each side. The boxes also had lights. The bad thing about the boxes were they were not weather proof. When it rained or we drove in rain, the contents of the boxes got wet. I finally went to using covered boxes inside the boxes, but still ended throwing away many tools due to rust.
