Well I switched over to Fleet Guard air filters (from the Mopar ones), so I only had to make one stop for filters (FrieghtLiner Dealer)...

Well as soon as I put the filter on I went out for a drive and got on the highway and let it breath for a minute... Went straight home and popped the hood to find my filter minder pulled down to about 60% (about 10 miles on this filter), I thought maybe I forgot to reset it, pushed the reset and closed the hood... For the last 5K miles I kept an eye on the minder and everytime I popped the hood the minder was at about 60% ... So I just chaulked it up to a bad filter  ... . Well the 20k (oil change and all filters every 5K) mark hit and it was time for "my scheduled" maintaince. This time the fliter minder was pulled just to the red (5k on air filter) and I swapped it out with another FleetGuard A/F... Changed everything and went for the same drive, came home and the filter minder is pulled to 60% again on the second A/F (the about 10 miles on it) :( ... .

I have had 2 fleetguards and 2 mopar A/F's on the truck since it was new, the Mopar ones never pulled the filter minder to more than 50%... but these fleetguards are pulling past that "brand new"

Anyone else see this happen?? I am thinking about pulling the "prefilter" part off the fleetguard and see if it will help since I am swapping these out so often, but I think I will be going back to the Mopar ones until I go with a AFE system...

Here are the facts:

2 mopar filters: never pulled past 50% even with 5K miles on them.

2 fleetguard filters: pulled past 60% from the start and (the 1 got into the red with 5K on it).

Stock intake system nothing changed between the filter changes, the truck 04 305/555, 48re, has a Edge EZ set on level 4 with the elbow and has had the box installed with both filters...

Just to be sure, what year is your truck? Are you aware that early-build (pre December 2003) trucks had a mis-calibrated filter minder which was replaced as a TSB?

I purchased a factory air filter from the dealership for about $17. 00 plus change. The filter minder doesn't move, or hasn't moved since installation. If your having problems with fleetguard, maybe I'll stick with the OEM filter.
