If it's broke you are not going anywhere. Other than that I have no idea how you would know if it's cracked unles you inspected it somehow.

There can be a clanking sound when you start the truck due to it flexing while start and when the teeth skip over the crack. If it is broke truck would not move or start. Been there before

I had a '91 chevy truck with a TCI built 700R4/4L60 trans. TCI told me to run a "mystery switch" back in 1995 to lower my 1/4 mile times shifting locked up. They said thier trans. would take it, but my flex plate didn't. I developed a bad popping sound at idle and during acceleration. I narrowed the sound to the torque converter area. I pulled my trans. back and found the stock flex plate was cracked all the way around the bolt circumfrance. The popping sound must have been the broken sections of flex plate working in and out. Luckily it never came apart and left me stranded. I put a heavy duty TCI small block chevy flex plate in and shortly after I broke the differential spider gear cross shaft, which did leave me stranded. Anyways mine made a constant popping sound while the engine was runnning with a broken flex plate. Mike.
