I made an order to Geno's this morning and wanted to get some floor mats and thought about a dash cover. The person I spoke to recommended gray mats for my Taupe interior because he described the tan ones as 'Very Tan'. I don't care how tan they are but how can that be a better match than gray?

He said the same thing for the dash cover, the molded Cover King.

Have any of you guys with Taupe interior bought the Husky Liners and/or molded dash cover for your trucks? How did they match? What color did you go with?

I also ordered a Turbo Tool Tray. I'll report on impressions of that when it comes and I get it installed. Since I live in the far-flung Northwest it'll be a week before the stuff gets here.

One of the first things I bought was a dash cover. DashMat was the recommended brand, supposedly available at Autozone, but when mine arrived it was a Cover King. It came with some velcro parts that I didn't want on my dash and didn't use, but the cover stays in place without them and the holes in the cover match the shape and position of the holes on the dash. The cover is also hemmed around the holes. I figured that the engine was going to last a lot longer than the truck so I've been doing things to improve longevity of the interior. I believe the axiom "dash cover, Yes. Armour All: No when it comes to interior protection.

Taupe Color

Vaughn, I ordered and received a Mopar rear floor mat, (Rams Head in the middle) for my '03 rear. It's gray in color, box says Taupe, ordering info in catalog says Taupe. I also am awaiting a dash cover from "Dashmat.com", liked the one I had on my '01, but have no idea if their #82 Taupe is gonna match the taupe on the truck. Stay tuned, will post when it arrives. Ron

As far as floormats go... do not get the grey ones! They are a "battleship" grey, and look horrible with the taupe interior (IMHO). I tried to take pictures, but I couldn't capture the color differences very well. I couldn't stand them and ended up exchanging. Geno's service was excellent.

GO WITH BLACK!!!!! Looks great, really accents the interior well, but doesn't look too dark. (BTW, I love the Husky Liners)

Dashmat -- taupe vs.grey

I have a white 03 3500 QC with taupe interior. About 3 weeks ago I went to the local dealer to order a dashmat. The counterman recommended grey rather than a lighter tan (that would have more closely matched the "taupe" [looks like tan to me]) because "more of our customers like the grey, and it doesn't reflect in the windshield like the tan does. " He had a selection of about 15 color samples made out of the material used to make the dashmats.

I took the sample swatches out to the truck, and sure enough, the grey looked better than the tan, and the tan reflected badly in the windshild (like a white piece of paper on the dashboard) while the grey did not. Not of the other swatches looked as good with taupe as the medium grey. Sold! I ordered the grey and am quite satisfied. Cost was $54. 95 + tax.

I used to have a Power Choke with tan interior. I had the tan Husky floor liners in it. They mached very well. ;) The only problem that I had them was how bad they showed dirt and oil. They only looked great when I washed them. They are correct in telling you the tan will not match the taupe interior. They really look tan in the new Dodge. I personally was not happy with the gray and also thought with it being lighter it would show dirt and oil marks. I went with the Black floor liners and I lover them. There is enough black trim in the truck that they really look great. I have 7,000 miles on my truck and am very happy with the black. I bought the floor liners for the front and the back. I also have the hump cover for the front.

Boonsur and Marine, I'll give the black ones some thought, I don't really want black though. I'm not too worried about them showing dirt, they're not hard to clean. I'm primarily going after carpet protection.

Marine, what is the "Volumizer" box listed in your sig?

I'd like to get a dash cover but they don't have cut outs for the speakers and the radio in this thing is muffled enough already.

My Cover King dash cover has them. Close to being perfectly positioned, too. It was about $30 at an auto parts store called Autozone. I'm colorblind, so I have no idea whether or not it matches, but I'm more concerned about protecting the dash and having something I can yank off and toss in the washer when it needs cleaning.

Pictures

I just took a couple pictures of my black Husky liners. They're not award winning, but they should give you an idea of how they look in a taupe interior.

Give me you e-mail address, and I can sent them to you.

The Volumizer is a 60/100 hp timing box for the 03 Dodges or Fords made by PDQ Performance. We have been program dealers for them for the last two years. I have been real impressed with it so far. I went on a 1600 mile trip with this big beast and averaged 20. 1 miles to the gallon running 75 to 90mph.

I've never heard of "Pretty Darn Quick Performance. " I'm curious to learn more about them. Do they have a website?

Dash Cover

Vaughn, I bought a "Dash Mat" cover for my '03 w/taupe interior. It matches very well. I tried the tan and the grey, also. The grey matches closer than the tan. The tan is way off! Checker/Kragen/Schucks has them on sale, occasionally. I got min 4/4/03, on sale for $l9. 99+tax. They have to be ordered but, it only takes a week to 10 days to get it. If you need to get ahold of Dash Mat, their number is 602-442-0342. My Quad Cab did not come with rear floor mats. Since I live in Phoenix, where Dash Mat is located, I went to their factory and looked at their floor mat selection. The closest match I could come up with was their version of grey. It's not a perfect match but, darn close. Most people would never notice. This mat is a really thick carpet with a rubber-nippled backing. Fits well and looks good. Their part number is 761180. The part number for the Dash Mat is 1541-00-82. Hope this helps. Joe Fihn(Buffalo).

Dashmat.com, (Global Ind)

Vaughn, I received my dashmat yesterday, fit AND Taupe color are perfect! I bought the "Ultimat", is pressure formed to fit the dash, looks classy. A little pricey, but what the hay. I wish the rear floor mat was closer in color match, but I don't sit back there, only the dogs and the granddaughter. At 70 MPH, nobody will notice, (I hope). Go to Dashmat.com and look around. Ron

I'll have to check them out Ron! Do you have the Infinity system with the 3 little speakers in the dash? Are there holes in the cover for those? If not I can easily cut them out and have my mom hit them with her Singer.

A dash mat is a cover made of carpet or other material that is used to protect the cheap plastic dash boards on vehicles from heat and sunlight. They also help keep the dash clean and provide a bit of protection from spills or dropped objects. I specifically wanted one that I could toss in the washer or hose down when it got dirty. No pictures, but you can probably go to DashMat.com to get a good look at them.
