Good morning, Gentlemens...anyone know about a protective mat for the fold-flat floor deck in the rear of the Ram 3500? The carpeting is a magnet for any kind of debris, dog hair, etc. Any suggestion is welcome. Thank you!
I put down an old sheet, moving blanket, and / or sometimes this black felt sheets we have from work that protects shipping damage of powdercoated handles... works great and can be folded up and stuffed behind the rear seat(s) when not used.
I use an old green wool army blanket my dad brought back from the service 60 years ago. It covers the fold flat floor perfectly when the blanket is folded in half.
I got something from walmart. It was in there automotive section. It is a dark woolish looking top side (not wool for sure though) and on the bottom a rubber or some sort of plastic backing. It was large enough that I cut it to fit from side to side and front to rear. I cut a split in it at the 60/40 part of the separate seat/fold down floor but not two separate pieces just split it enough to be able fold up the fold down floor. That way I can put down one or the other seats and still have it cover the remaining portion of the fold flat floor. It is thin enough that I can fold it up with the fold down floor and the seat will still go down properly. Whatever the rubberish backing is keeps liquid from soaking through. Can pull it out and hose it off if needed.
I have a Eddie Bauer mat that was made for having the dogs in the back seat. It’s a heavy padded nylon, machine washable. I have been using it for years in all of my trucks as a seat protector. Turns out, it is perfect for the flat fold down rear seats. I’m sure LLBean and others carry them as well.
I use a Home Depot floor mat, fits well and only about 30.00.
For my Lab I use a Muddy River 60"x58" cover for the rear seat backs and over the Home Depot mat.
I had a orthopedic foam piece cut and canvas cover made at a foam shop that fits perfect on top of the fold flat for my dogs. Underneath that, to keep their hair out of the seat bottom, I bought a heavy painters drop cloth. Works perfect!
