Yesterday i was stunned, blown away, and totally floored by Wal-Mart. I bought a set of tires, for my festiva, from them and they were--MADE IN THE USA!! I couldnt believe my eyes :--) .

What is the world coming to when we can actually buy stuff from the store made in our OWN country??

I would like to see more things that i purchase made in the USA, but as the saying goes-"You can wish in one hand, and crap in the other to see which one fills up first!!" lol

Has anyone else seen this phenomenon of products that didnt arrive here on a boat??

The better question is why are you driving a Festiva? :-laf

Maybe they don't make tires that small in China. :D

Your tires are made in America, but your car is made in Mexico

I believe it says "KOREA" under the hood  lord knows ive seen the underside of that hood a bunch-lol

It has 12" wheels on it, and the guy there first tried to sell me some 4wheeler tires-i said they'd look good but wouldnt stand 75mph for hours at a time!!

WalMart is not the only company that sells things made in China. I bought some black pipe and a piece of aluminum from Home Depot and they were both made in China.

How can they afford to ship this stuff?

My son's doing Little League baseball this spring, and got a game ball the other day. Very nice Dixie Youth leather ball from Rawlings - and Made in China.

It must be several times over cheaper to SHIP the stuff than it would be to pay a union worker the wages demended by the American worker as well as benefits.

ill have to keep that in mind,,, my festarosa is in need for tires too.

Ill tell you why I drive a festiva,,,,,,, 45+mpg!!!! and has no problem running 75-80 all day long.

One of the fellows who used to work for me had a Ford Aspire - his reasoning was that he commuted 124 miles round trip every day and at 40+ MPG, he could run it until it wore out, throw it away and get another and come out ahead in the long run. The last report I had was that it was well over 250K miles!

All those BIG BOX stores are what is KILLING "Made in USA". They beat their vendors to death about cutting cost, down to the point where they have no choice but to outsource. Hence, all the "US compaines" with the famous "MADE IN CHINA" gold sticker on their products!

The FairTax will help this situation tremendously. It is amazing how much hidden tax is imbedded in the cost of doing business and producing something in this country.

My dad has over 260k miles on his '94 Aspire. Car doesn't owe him anything. Has treated him good. :) Still get up close to 40mpg.

We have a Saturn... ... . it's probibally 2X's the size of a fiesta, and all I'll ever do is get milk in it.

I couldnt possibly drive 100+ miles a day in that car. It would beat me all to hell.

Eric

Edit: I DO get like 35-40 MPG with it. It handles like a go-cart.

My festy is an 3 speed auto with only 95k miles(1991 model bought it off of original owner last year) and it gets 35mpg avg. all the time. I have a 105 mile round trip commute to work every day and it rides great at 75 mph. btw the tires were only 145 bucks mounted and balanced--that is less than what ONE tire for my trucks costs :{

My 1992 & 1998 Oldsmobile 88 got 30-31 mpg on the road. Ride was sweet. Car was roomy. And that 3. 8L V-6 was spunky!

Now our Acura TL 3. 2L V-6 'could' get 30 mpg if I stay out of it! Rides and handles like the sports sedan that it is.

Who needs a crackerbox car?

Well I get 50mpg... but it's with the wind in my face and the sun on my back...

My 1980 Yamaha xs650 may not like 70 for long periods, but it's MUCH better than a little car like that.

I had an old MB 190D. Little 4 cyl diesel and a 5 speed.

Got like 50 MPG's @ 80 MPH all day long.

It got to the point I was getting scared of it. It was well over 250K miles and it didnt have an easy life at that.

Sold it to my BIL. He drove it to Mexico a few times. I dont ask questions. :-laf
