Anyone using a Flowmaster muffler?

They are recommending using their 954040-10 which is a Delta Force Race 40 series 2 chamber.

I notice this is not the muffler that comes with their complete exhaust system.

I could have swore I read once that chambered mufflers and our trucks don't get along..... is that true at all?

I'm gonna see if I can find one tommorrow... ... ... .

Just thought I'd let you know, I tried a two chamber on my truck and I lost 4 lbs boost and a increase of 100 degrees in exhaust temp. Went back to the NAPA straight through and got it back. Now I run a straight pipe and love it.

Just thought I'd let you know.

Kat,

I had a Flowmaster, 2 chamber on for awhile, sorry I don't have any of the particulars 'cause I didn't have gauges at the time. When I removed it and made it a straight pipe I really didn't notice a whole lot of differance,as far as performance goes anyways. I really don't have anything bad to say about it,seemed to work very well,I just choose to make a he!!ava lot more noise now!:-laf

Flowmaster - yes - so far

I say so far because I haven't had an opportunity to pull any real weight yet. :(

But you may recall my earlier post of "Flowmaster. . No Flowmaster" where I detailed the kit number and that FlMstr was providing insentive offers at rodeo and equine events to promote their new 4" exhaust.

Anyway I had one put on at the local Delta shop, great job by the way, and i like it a lot.

The particulars:

99 2500 4x4 w/3:54 gear

Most of my driving has been commuting at 70 - 75. The 2K rpm drone is insignificant to my ears.

Exhaust gases temp changes have been minimal for normal driving. Except i have noticed that the lightweight cruising gives me about 40 degrees cooler at same speeds and boosts reading as before. Namely 7psi boost at 75mph = about 660eth, pre-turbo.

I've seen faster spool up after 7psi but no increases seen from 0 to 6. I can't explain it maybe someone else can.

When I do get up to speed and then do hard excelleration, not wot, the eth's do not come up as fast as they used to but will rise.

The sound is great, a lot of looks in town of "what's that guy got in there" variety. 5" stainless tip is a + also.

I was going to post this but was waiting for some towing opportunities to see what benefits come to lite.

I hope this helps. :)

Ya I know, your post is what got me interested in it after I was fooling around on their website.

However he didn't offer that price to me. Its gonna retail around $800 which is a bit much.

He said based on feedback the muffler in the kit leaves something to be desired which is why he recommend the muffler listed above which is not in the kit.

I know of 2 trucks that pulled the Flowmaster chambered muffler off. Too loud in the cab, and too much resonance. They are definitely louder, if that is what you want ,straight pipe it.

My BD system resonates at 1600 and 2000-2100:rolleyes: I'm not sure if it is a muffler issue or what? It didn't resonate at all with the stock straight pipe. After the money I laid down for the new system (so my truck would pass New Hampshire inspection) If I touch that exhaust system, my other half will break my fingers!:-{} :D
