Flu Shot and getting sick?????

OK - I did it again - I got a flu shot on Friday and wouldn't you know it - I got the flu - OK it is a milder version - but I'm at about 50%. A good friend of mine is an ER nurse and she told me that 3 of her friends have had the same result - in fact she thinks this is happening more with this shot. In the past I've had this reaction before - on about a 50% incident... . any of you guys had this experience?????

never had a flu shot [i have a phobia of needles] and i last had the flu in 02...

Yup, I feel like crap for a couple of days after the shot, and unfortunately, I still have to get the shot every fall. I usually feel a little weak and and have stiff joints for a couple of days after getting it. If I had a choice, I wouldn't get it. Unfortunately, I don't have the option of saying "no".

Last I heard the "flu shot" is the flu. They inject the flu into you so you can build up against it in a larger dose. So it does make sense that you are feel like you have the flu. Why, because you do.

I dont get the shot, and I dont get the flu either.

I had a shot in the 80's and got "sort of" sick

I had one last year and did not feel anything



My wife already got one this year and did not have any sickness feelings.



I get mine in early november.

you can't get the flu from the flu shot ...



your body can react as if you have the flu though ...

The flu vaccine is a dead virus. The nasal spray is a live virus. From my training as an EMT with doctors, they say it is virtually impossible to get the flu from a dead virus. From the live virus, highly possible. I get the flu shot every year and have never felt bad or gotten the flu. Did the nasal spray just once and felt like I got hit by a MAC truck. Just my 2 cents worth.
