I've done a search and also looked in owners manual and cannot seem to find what is total capacity of the 48re for a fluid flush. I took to local dealer and they said they couldnt do it because they dont have a special fitting needed to hook up to my truck----------but the machine is the latest and greatest---so I am wondering where to take to have it done. Another local repair shop said they could do it but they needed to know how much to use-------Not for sure what to do.

thanks

Jim; Can not find total capacity in my 03 service manual either for the 48RE.

It only instructs: If trans. was completely overhauled or torque converter was replaced or drained, add 12 pts. (6 qts) of ATF+4 to trans. Start eng & run @ idle, set park brakes, shift thru all gears then leave in NEUTRAL. Add fluid to bring level to MIN on dipstick. Drive vehicle to bring fluid to normal operating temp. Add fluid to bring level up to MAX arrow mark. Ck. in NEUTRAL @ idle. (Per page 21-383-284)

They give the Overhaul refill for the 46 RE (19-20 pts) and 45RFE/545RFE (29-33 pints - depending on cooler size, etc. ) Nothing in the specifications on the 48RE.

I know this is not exactly the info you need but may be of some help. The 18 qts. sounds about right. Good Luck.
