Are you going to do the front diff too (fluid?). I figure total of 9 Qts (4 on the front, 5 on the rear). I ordered a case of 12qts just to keep it simple. If your just doing the rear I would order 6qts to be safe. it will take 5qts to be full on the dipstick.

Fluid capacity

I did 8 quarts and 3 small bottles of modifier. 16 oz tot there. so 8 quarts and 16 oz modifier. level is right on the money on the dipstick

mine is a dana 80 though, just saw what yours was... .

Do they make a mag hytec for the front now? a dana 60??

Cost??

You also have the Dana 80 where as he has the Dana 70. Dana 70 with the Mag-Hytec is 5 Qts. With Amsoil shouldn't need any friction modifier. Looks like you edited your post, while I was replying.

No there is no front cover yet. Supposedly there is one in the works. I was just asking if he was changing the fluid in the front too as that would justify ordered a case of 12qts (it did to me).

Dealer just told me today 3. 5 PINTS, 2 pints in a quart, right? Also said 90weight for a DANA70. I have the same setup, 2000 DANA 70 (2500) with a Mag-Hytec. Do I really need FIVE quarts? Also, the DC limited slip additive is 4oz, bought 3 today. Service says they put ONE bottle (4oz) in each rear end. How much does the OEM rear pan on a DANA70 hold? How much extra does the Mag cover add? And the most confusing thing is what the friction modifier bottle says on it, "Apply 2-5% by gear lubricant weight". Anyone care to decode that?!

EricBu12, how did you get 16oz modifier from 3 bottles? 5. 3333. . oz per bottle? Did you mean 3x4oz or 12oz? Where did you get your dosage directions from?

Thanks

I just ordered the Mag Hytec Dana 70 cover from Geno's. According to their catalog the total capacity of the Dana 70 with Mag Hytec cover is 12 pints, (6 quarts), but refill may vary based on the amount of fluid drained. I'm getting 6 quarts to be on the safe side.

Also, when using Dino oil the owners manual recommends using 6% friction modifier with limited slip.
