I have never changed my rear end fluid since i have bought my truck. What kind of fluid does everyone recommend. What type gasket do you use. Also does anyone torque the bolts.

I use Royal Purple 75w-90

No gasket, just clean the surfaces well and use form a gasket goop.

I prefer Loctite 515 anaerobic flange sealant, it's made specifically for the job.

I use to run Redline 75-140 until I had the carrier bearings replaced by a reputable rebuild shop. They were adamant about NOT using synthetic, but use strictly 75-140 dino oil with modifier. Their reasoning was the limited slip suffered and the oil in the diff doesn't get that hot to warrant the synthetic and lose the limited slip. They recommended oil changed annually, and the rear would last just as long. My two cents.

I have never had a problem wit it, I like to put the cover on hand tight then wait 10 minutes then tighten with a wrench, I don't remember a gasket from the factory but maybe there was it was a long time ago :)

Reason I like the Loctite 515 is that you can just apply it, slap it together and drive away. I've heard tales of folks who use RTV having leaks unless they let it cure a little before putting the cover on and letting it dry overnight before adding oil.

I used DC 75W-140 syn. last time and am going to use Amsoil sevre gear 75w-140 next time. I also used RTV sealant last time and let it sit overnight before driving, been leak free ever since.
