If you already have rubberized undercoating, such as Ziebart, it will dissolve it, so keep its use restricted to inner rocker panels and fenderwells, etc. if you don't want your undercoating removed. It penetrates, stops rust dead in its tracks, and is self-healing, among many other useful properties. Completely natural and safe, too.

My dad used Fluid Film on his truck, it was washed off by winter's end... FWIW.



It works well where it is protected from road spray.

Fluid Film is just one part of any serious rust prevention regimen. You must also use mechanical protection (mudflaps, running boards, shielding, etc) and barrier coatings (paint, red oxide primer, rubberized undercoating, etc), and can even take advantage of electronic protection such as CounterAct.

In the long run, and that is what rust prevention and Cummins engines are all about, there is no substitute for vigilance and maintenance of all these measures.

"Fluid Film® will actually imbed itself in the pores of metal, resisting wash off and keeping moisture and oxygen from getting to the base metal. ", and

but I would not give up the impact resistance of rubberized undercoat on areas targeted by your tire spray. I use Fluid Film inside the rocker panels and fenders, etc. where nothing else can reach or work. That is where rust will get started and turn terminal. I love how it migrates and penetrates down into the pinch seams and stops any rust started there cold. It won't wash off there, and you will never get undercoating to penetrate and flow into those areas.

I know nothing I have treated with Fluid Film, even metal that was already rusting, has rusted anymore. POR15, powder coating, and other coatings are a joke.

They claim it will last through a winter season on exposed undersides of vehicles. I would hope that anyone serious about protecting their truck would give it a thorough underside washing before and after winter, too.

If you are coating your entire underside with it, you don't have the overspray problems undercoating presents: Just wash it clean and soak it all. I can't do that since it removes my undercoating.

Once I have the photos taken, I will post here what I consider the near-ultimate in critical area lower-and-underbody protection: my own shielding system.

Once it washed off, it rusted very quickly. And don't get me wrong, it could be the polymer salt brine they are using here.

It definitely didn't work as well as our oil mix (gear oil, 40wt motor oil, and hydraulic/atf)... the best stuff we ever used was "bright stock" which is similar to zebart except it doesn't set up solid, it stays sticky.
