I've got a leak coming through the firewall, i believe it's coming from the spot where the brake pedal goes through. Funny thing is, it's not brake fluid... I believe it's power steering fluid. The truck loses power steering fluid over time, but the power steering pump is bone dry and so are all lines, etc. I noticed there are some lines going from the power steering pump up to the master cylinder. Could the power steering fluid be leaking internally somehow in the master cylinder and coming through the firewall?

The brake fluid level has never dropped abnormally.

This is an area i know nothing about. Some ideas on what parts to check, how to check them, and what needs to be replaced would be appreciated.

btw, this is on the 01. 5... current mileage about 111k.

Thanks,

Chris

GREEEEEEAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTT#@$%! I was just going to post this same question. I have the same problem. Kind of an oily residue on floor mat, roughly in the area of the go pedal. Some times it appears more wet than other times.

How hard is the hydroboost to change out? How much mooooolaaaaaa with it run? I have no other problems with brakes/power steering.

Not for sure on the cost for your year, but I paid 275. 00 for mine. They are'nt hard to change if you can get the lines loose without rounding off the fittings.
