Yesterday I noticed a leak under my truck. I have owned it for approx one month and it has been dry as a bone. After looking at it today underneath, looks like it is the seal between the transmission and transfer case that is leaking. Is this common, just old age, or is there some other issue I should be looking for other than just a gasket leak?

Any help would be appreciated. . Truck has 111k on it. Previous owner had transmission and transfer case fluid changed at 100k. Unknown what was put in it although based on rotella use in motor, assume he also used non synth in transmission.

Thanks guys.

When my original trans was replaced at 128k, the tech stated that one of the seals were bad so he replaced it. When I replaced the T/C last spring there was a little fluid between the trans and t-case. It didn't leak because the teck used silicone between them when he reassembled it.

Since I couldn't determine which seal was bad, didn't have one on hand and the leak was slight, I just cleaned up the 2 surfaces and reassembled with a little silicone sealer on the surfaces.

If you bought from a dealer there might be some recourse. Has the bottom been pressure washed? Does it leak much?
