I am rebuilding a 04 with plans of having around 450-500 RWHP. Balancing the engine is cheaper than a fluidampener. Which is the best option? Is there any benifit to do both? When balancing the engine, they can not do it with the fluidamepner on. Any input?
I did both. Balancing the engine makes the engine run smoother because everything weighs the same in the rotating assembly. The Fluidamper makes the engine feel even smoother by dampening out other harmonics in the engine not caused by imbalance.
PRattenbury is correct, but I would add, you have to save and use your stock damper to balance your rotating assembly, then inst. the neutral balanced Fluidampr after the eng. is together.
I also wanted to install a fluindamper on my truck, but i was told by a mechanic shop that they have seen the dampers break crank shafts because the fluid freezes? Is this true?
