looking into the KDP fix i thought that while i have the front opened up it might be a good time to install an aftermarket damper. i read in the most recent tdr magazine that with the 12v it is difficult to change the belt with the fluidamper installed. i was curious if this is true or if the belt can be put over the fluidampr then routed through the engine? i havnt seen any recent posts on the fluidampr, that is why i am bringing it up again. looking for anybody currently using or have installed recently. also where is the best place to purchase the aftermarket damper? Any other suggestions appreciated?

I have been looking into getting the fluiddamper for the last couple of months. Right now Genos has the best price.

I have not installed one on the cummins, when I did put one on a chevy v-8 the difference is night and day. The chevy one made no difference on the micro-v belt, or I just didn't see it as that big of obstacle.

I would say it's a waste of money if the current one is OK. The article in TDR magizine #73 is rather detailed about what's available.

There is no interference problem with changing the belt on a '95. I've had the belt off several times; takes all of one minute to do. Maybe you are thinking that it is difficult to change the dampener with the belt on... That would be a challenge.

Can you elaborate on why you think it is a waste of money?

I disagree. I have had a Fluidampr on the truck for about 4 years now. Right off the bat I noticed a new "smoothness" throughout. From idle to redline. The engine seems to rev easier too. It other words I am at 2200 rpms and I don't notice it. With the OEM balancer I'd know it at 2000 rpms.
