Has anyone installed fog lights in the bumper of a 98. 5 auto/tran? The dealer tells me they offered lights in the bumper, only on standard/ trans trucks in 98, because of a cooling line behind one of the holes. I was wondering if anyone tried this and had cooling problems. Thanks in advanced.

The dealer must know something I didnt. Seems my 99 w/auto had the foglights . These were factory installed as well.

They will fit!!

I did it. I just bought the kit and installed 'em. It is kinda tight on the drivers side but it wasn't that bad. Email me if you need some help with parts and whatnot. No cooling problems what so ever.

I was told the same thing by the dealer. Not enough room on the 98. 5's. They put in a new '99 section of the bumper (grey plastic section were the fog lights fit) Worked great, but it was on my $dime$.

Dumb Question?

I have front fog lights on my truck but to comply with European foglights' legislation (neccy for re-registration in Europe), I had to install additional rear (hi-intensity) foglights, which turn "on" when the factory front foglights are turned on.

Is there any reason why rear fog lights are currently not a standard factory option?

Thanks for the response guys. Not only the dealer, but a local after market truck accessories supplier told me they were informed not to sell the kit they offer to a 98. 5 auto/trans. I had trouble believing it would cause cooling problems. Does anyone know if the wiring connections are there for the factory lights? Thanks

KKeen, I can only speak for a 98. 5 but yes the wiring is already there. The hookup on the dash is a plug behind the air bag off switch panel on the dash. The other end is under the radiator that you plug your lights into. The only thing that is missing is the two relays that go in the fuse box under the hood.

Fog lights

I got the factory kit for mine, came with the plastic inserts for the bumper, the wiring harness and relay and a new head light switch and some other small stuff like plastic rivets etc. , cost me $157. 00 Mine is one of the first 99 models and I got a lot of the "it won't work stuff" from different folks at Chrysler dealer. If you decide to go with the factory lights, just tape up the red wire if you want the lights to work when the brights are on. The factory lights are not really that good and I have had complaints on mine for being too high when they are set where they are supposed to be. You might want to invest in some aftermarket lights and get it right the first time. bg
