2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Fog Lights Types??....

HELLO EVERY ONE...

I want to install FOG LIGHTS in one set of my holes in my new ROAD ARMOR but a little confused on what type REALLY IS THE BEST as far as REALLY making any difference in the fog!!!

I was always lead to believe that FOGS had to be YELLOW!!!!

But keep seeing "everything" saying that theres are for FOG!!!



Any help or thoughts or ideas would be of help!!

Take it from the fog light guru, dont believe me ask my wife, You really get what you pay for in fog lighting, except for Piaa, which in my opinion are overpriced junk. I have had one set of the major brands at one time or another. If you are wanting round lights your choice is a bit limited. Cibie makes a couple of round lights, Bosch also makes a set of round lights, both are excellent lights with a good beam pattern. Hella makes the 500 series in both clear and amber fog and they are also an excellent light. The main differnece between amber and clear is that clear will light up the road a bit better, but they blend in with the rest of the oncomming lights and other drivers dont notice them as well in bad weather. Clear lights also can cause eye strain and fatique on long trips. Amber/yellow fog lights stand out among all the other clear lights, dont cause eye fatigue, and do a better job on rainy black nights. I prefer amber over the clear as with heavy snow in the winter and very foggy springs the amber do a better job for me than the clear. I run a set of Bosch Touring 170 series rectangular lights in the bumper openings on my Ram. Your good brands are: Cibie, Marchal, Bosch, Hella, Wipac. Marchal has been gone for few years but you can find them on ebay and they were one of the best lights out there, I can email you websites for Cibie and Bosch lights. Or just check under fog lights, or amber fog lights depending on what you want on ebay. Where in Maine are you, my birthmother is from Maine, planning a trip there in the summer of 05. I own a set of the piaa pro 90's (the "overpriced junk"), best lamps I have every added. Had them all over the years, KC, Cibie,

Dick Cepek... ... My piaa fogs actually work and don't offend oncoming traffic, I use them all the time as my Ram OEM lights leave me blind, especially in the rain. I have had these piaa's on for a couple of years, and they still look like they just came out of the box.

Both sets of piaa's I have had, 1500 fog and 520 fog, both had way to much purple haze glare in heavy fog, Piaa lights dont use a bulb shield and have way to much light above the horizontal plane, you want a very sharp cut off to prevent glare in heavy fog or snow, and I can get a MUCH BETTER set of Cibie or hella lights for much less than the price a set of piaa lights go for, but if you want to pay the price, then go for it. Just my 2-cents worth.

fog lights

I've had both clear/white and amber fogs. The last truck I installed the amber set. They were great at night for avoiding deer and mostly to see what is in the ditches. In the 2001 I installed the stock Dodge whiteys. They are OK also. It really boils down to what you want. Too bad there is no way to testdrive different sets just to see what they look like for real.
