My truck didn't come with Fog lights so last time I was at the dealer i asked how much it would cost for the factory set. The parts person starts telling me that the 2000 RAM 3500 didn't have them because the because of the trans cooler lines ran threw that area. It sounded like a load of cow pies but thought I would check it out here.

That was true for my 1998, so I assume unless they moved the tubing, they still would have clearence problems and not be available as a factory option.

Even though they didn't come stock, if you have the auto you can get the setup and they will fit. I did it and did not have any problems with clearence or cooling. There is less clearence because of the cooler but it's enough to not cause any rubbing.

Foggy story

The factory lights will fit your truck. Tell your dealer to up date his story, that went out about three and a half years ago. bg

Cow Pies!

My buddy has a 2000 3500 auto that came with them factory. I crawled under his and measured and they would fit my '94 BUT you need the plastic bumper insert for the lights, they are different from the ones without lights.

My truck did not come with factory fog lights. I bought some aftermarket fog lights from Catz--the MSC model for $122. 50 and had them installed by a friend who owns an accessories store. The look to have mounted up nice and I think they look better than the factory lights because they extend out of the factory designed hole just a tish more than the factory lights. They are good fog lights and better, in my opinion, than the factory lights on my previous 1998 Dodge 2500.

If you order any lights from Catz they have been giving discounts to TDR members. I think quite a few members bought the fog lights a while back.

The Dodge kit

The price for the factory light kit w/plastic, w/wire harness, lights, switch and the cardboard box is right at $200. 00. It changes without to with lights. The dealer called it a general kit to fit all the trucks.

Thanks everyone for the info. I thought the story I got was a little off. Right now my next bomb is a generator for my camper.

KMeek,

Who is or was offering the discount on CATZ lights to TDR members? Direct from CATZ or from some other dealer?

Thanks, Mike Gire

Fog Lights? no problem

Henderson,

Here ya go. Hope this helps. I have a 98' automatic. Not a factory option for fog lights because as everyone else is saying, not enough room for the lights. I read in the TDR of someone that accomplished it. Heres what I needed to do. Dropped the front bumper off, very easy. Mounted the lights, ran the wires, put bumper back in place. I had a friend help. i am no mechanic by any means, this type off thing is not my specialty. Took a total of about 2 hours.

IT WILL WORK WITHOUT ANY MODIFICATIONS.

Hope this helped.
