Foggy guages

Just installed my autometer guages (triple pillar mount) recently, and they work great. One problem: when I turn on my lights, my pyro and trans guage fog up. The boost doesn't. Why is this? Anybody have this happen? Thanks.

You have water in guage cause unk . you have to vent to get water out , best thing to do is see if there is a hole in housing that can be used if so turn on side with hole up , and turn on lamp in guage the light should be ok to warm the air in side and it will dry out , If no hole then you may have to drill small hole one or two and do as above then warrante is shot but the guage will be of use. hope this helps . Could have ben put together on a humid day or in a rain storm who knows//////

I have the AutoMeter pyro fogging in form he outer edge in toward the center 1/2". Talked with DIS, they talked with AutoMeter I received new gauge. Same problem. I ran Isspro gauges in my '95 never fogged, in a pillar mount. I have these gauges mounted in cups in front of the gear shifter.

Both my boost and pyro do also. As the night wears on, the heat from the bulbs makes the fogging go away.

Gonna keep my fingers crossed that I won't have a problem.

I don't find it a problem... it clears up pretty fast... like in about 15 miles on the highway it's all but gone.

Here we go again

I've seen the fogging with Autometer, ISSpro, Banks and my own VDO gauges (not the boost gauge though). Since I upgraded to SPA digital gauges I have experienced NO fogging.

I've contacted Autometer about my fogging Pyro gauge, and they say they're looking into the problem. I can "aggravate" the fogging by using my defroster or air conditioning with the vent pointed in the "upward" direction towards the gauge. It seems the ultralite gauges with the aluminum dial rings get cold, and the interior of the lens close to the edges fogs up. It's particular bad on damp/rainy/humid days.



The boost gauge doesn't fog up. Only the pyro. I took a good look at the innards, and it looks like the boost gauge might be SEALED inside and the pyro is OPEN inside.

Well, I feel better knowing I'm not the only one. My pyro and trans guages will also clear up after a time. Hopefully the moisture will not hurt anything in there over a period of time. Those little jewels are too expensive to get gummed up with rust.

My Autometer EGT gauge fogged when i first installed it. Then after a few minutes it cleared and has never fogged again. I have seen it happen on other trucks, it never lasts more then a few minutes and over time it will stop happening all together. There is no free liquid in the gauge so there is nothing to drain out, just a small amount of condensation forms from the tempature difference.

I have the same problem mostly in pyro around outer edges.
