Has anyone tried to wire the factory foglight switch into the wiring harness block down by the clutch pedal? I am thinking of doing this just so I can use the factory relay.

I'm all hooked up from the front bumber to the PDC under the hood, which is wired to the wiring harness block on the inside of the firewall. I just need to make a wiring harness from my factory foglight switch to the wiring harness block.

I am thinking of using the factory overdrive harness thats exsiting under the dash... . since I will never have an automatic in the truck. The overdrive switch harness must be already wired into the wiring harness block... maybe all I have to do is put the correct wires in the correct pins in the block.

Anyone have suggestions or experience doing this?

Thanks

If you use the factory relay you can only turn your fog lights on when your low beams are on. It won't let them go on with brights or no lights. I'm sure there's a way around it, I just chose to use my own relay.

I have the instructions from Dodge that came with their add on fog light kit. If I remember correctly it shows how to wire directly into that big block of wires you are talking about.

The is a simple way to bypass the factory wiring so the light can run all the time vs. only on low beams.

Send me your email address if you would like the instructions from Dodge.

I use the dome light switch and a relay to control my landing lights. It's really pretty simple to do and doesn't add another switch to your dash.

All you have to do is switch 1 wire. I did this over a year ago and can look up which pin to switch. Let me know if you want the pin numbers. Marc

Thanks everyone.

I finally got it. What a PITA, I pulled the dimmer swith lead and ground off the overdrive switch circuit, pretty easy.

I ended up running a relay control wire (BR/WT) and the switch output wire (BL) to the PDC under the hood (bypassing the large wiring harness plug on the firewall). I soldered them in and eventually after finding a bad plug on the radiator support, I now have foglights. Just so you know, 97 trucks are not wired or pinned into the large wiring harness plug on the firewall... unless the truck came foglights from the factory.

I also cut pin 2 off relay 1, which allows the lamps to run with the high beams.

Thanks for all the help.....

Cooker, I would like to have a copy of the instructions. . I'll send you my email address.

Thanks again,

Kurt
