A while back I saw instructions on here on how to have the dealership use the starscan tool to program your foglights to stay on with highbeams. Just did a search for it and didn't have any luck finding it again. I'd like to have it done, but need the instructions again to do it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Use of foglights with highbeam headlamps is prohibited by DOT regulations but probably rarely if ever enforced. It is specifically prohibited for commercial drivers and probably enforced against CDL drivers.

Its possible with the starscan, but only on 06+, as pre 06 use the DRBIII and its not an option.

I remember the instructions saying that you had to make the truck think it was being used in another country where it is legal, but I didn't remember it being year specific. I think I'll try the switch modification. That doesn't cost anything and even if I mess it up and have to buy a new switch, it's cheaper than a brite box. Thanks for the info.

You won't be sorry... the instructions and photos on the two threads are pretty clear... you don't have to open up tha actual multifunction switch, you only have to remove it from the steering column and then surgically remove from plastic from the housing. A die grinder with a diamond ball tip REALLY helps out, as does a scalpel or exacto knife set. If you have any questions, feel free to ask here or PM me. The nice thing about the switch mod is that there is nothing to burn out electrically or fail, except for the switch itself, which might happen anyway... :-laf
