My son just leased a 2004 Nissan Maxima, upon looking it over next to the electronic mirror adjustment is a switch which says Open/Close. Upon activating it lo and belold both mirrors electronically fold againest the door glass. Why dont the new Rams have this option??,and to boot the Nissan mirror is 1/4 the size of the Rams!It would save all the horror stories of broken mirrors, sometimes we are so far behind foreign automakers

do they still break away, or fold in manually?? (when they hit something)

I would think no because they are connected to the gearing to make them move, If they are not break away, how is that better than the rams?

And also i would never have a small mirror on a large ram truck, how could you see the tiny maxima in your blind spot?:D

just my two cents

I sure like the larger mirrorsOo. So far behind foreign automakers?? What other country makes a truck like these? NONE!

I think CityRams point was that if Nissan thought it necessary to do this with small mirrors then our bigger mirrors (which are even more prone to damage because of their size) should do something similar and I agree.

Power folding mirrors on a passenger car are almost as useful as teats on a boar hog... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . just my $. 02 worth... ... ... :-{}

Volkswagen Pasat has power folding mirrors as well. I believe their intended purpose is more for the European market. When parking on a street thats as wide as a one lane alley, folding the mirrors in allows them to remain intact, on the car. Rather than becoming an integral part of that Mercedes delivery van grill. :D

The 2003 Suburbans have the electric folding mirrors and they do break away also, we didn't hear any noise when one of the guys in the shop folded the mirror without realizing that they folded electrically.

Prairie Dog,

You don't have one? Ah that's too bad. :( Maybe you should try a new pickup line!:D

It was meant in good clean wholesome humor anyhow. A manly man's man? Nah... I'm more of a lady's man. My ol' lady's man to be more accurate. :p

But power folding mirrors? Why would you need to fold up those tiny little mirrors anyhow?:confused:

Mirrors

I finally received my tow mirrors from my dealer,$325. I installed them myself. First one took me 45-50min. to install,2nd one took me 30 min. ,real easy for any one thinking of doing it. I absolutly love them! You do want to be aware of them at toll booths, mail box drop offs, etc. ,but they are steady as a rock & allow real good rear vision. You do need to adjust your vision thinking for the mirrors,I don't see any major magnification problems. Any love em,packed my oe ones in a box for emergencies(smashes) Pat

Hey Pat, I'm right across the puddle from you. I bought my truck at Autoway Dodge in Clrwtr. Used to be Kenyon. They have a Timberline green 3500 LB SRW 5spd/4. 10 QC SLT. My buddy liked it so much he located one just like it with a HEMI and 2500. Beautiful truck!

I folded my tow mirrors up the first time I towed with my new truck. After that I don't even fold them up any more. (see reader's rigs) I can see down the sides of our 5th wheel with them down. One neat thing about the power tow mirrors, when they're up, it doesn't change the operation of the adjustment buttons. Left, right, up and down remains the same.

Trade them in

I bought my truck off of the lot but it did not have the tow mirrors. I told the dealership that I would buy the truck only if it had the tow mirrors. I ended up paying $100 and traded my regular mirrors in. The dealer figured that it would be good to have a set around for those oops moments:mad:
