$$$ for a good bare head

Hey guys : I was wondering what a good price would be for a used head that could be reconditioned . I have located one at a cylinder head repair shop . He wants $500. 00 bare what do you think about this price. Might not be a bad thing to have an extra head on the shelf.

I bought a couple extra brand new bare heads a while ago for 600-650 each, I forget the shipping cost.
