Stupid bar tricks, trivial, etc.

Found this really great website I wanted to share with y'all. Those of you that know me personally also know and understand that my heart is in Dixie, growing up in Alabama with conservative parents, left me with a greater appreciation of my Southern heritage.

Read the "Article Archives" on this website, they're a quick study in why we believe the way we do, concerning present day politics, and the War of Northern Aggression. (don't call it the Civil War to my face)

The main website is : www.confederateshop.com The "Article Archives" button will at top left of the screen. The articles about our beloved St. Andrews Cross and about the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" are quite eye-opening.

Of course, I have several books that document these views, but until now I haven't seen them laid out on the internet in such a convenient manner.

I think I'm the only Liberitarian in NJ :p

Briar, did you ever hear the story of how the song of "Taps" came about? Very sad.

Eric

Yes, Eric, I have. It's sad, indeed. My son plays the trumpet, he related the story to me.

As for NJ, that does not make you a yankee. Read the article "Yankees" on that website. :D Many fine Libertarians and Southern sympathizers everywhere in the world, all over this country, establishing pockets of resistance. :D Keep the faith.

Dad was born in Newark NJ (now known as Nuk) but raised in North Carloina.

Mom was born and raised in Ireland. :D

I may be a (dam) yankee, but dont picture myself as one. :D

briar: i read with interest many articles posted on the site . I did enjoy the article about you're a yankee if... ..... . frankly i consider myself as a transplanted northerner to florida. when i read the yankee article i guess i would have failed the test on two issues. first, i do believe an employer owes you more than wages. i should be treated with the same courtesy and respect that an employeer expects. it's a two way situation. i need an employer and they need an employee. treat me the way you want to be treated and we will get along just fine!! the other point i would fail is about the constitution. i'm not totaly sure what the writer meant by living document but i believe revisionist thinking and legislating from the bench is an attempt to take our freedoms from us. truly i believe in the right to keep and bear. i also believe in our rights not being abridged. you may want to view rhus site: www.jbs.org bruce

Eric, with those views, I don't consider you a yankee.

Brucew, in that case, we share the same views politically. Many of my northern friends do share these same views with us.

What many people fail to grasp about our history is that the War of Northern Aggression was the turning point, the beginning of the subjugation of this country to the totalitarian regime that we now suffer under. It is a point of pride to educated Southerners that our ancestors fought against that.

Briar, I was born in Bama too. Small world huh?

Gunnersville, family at Redstone and NASA to this day.

Don~

southern pride

briar: thanks for the response. i received my introduction to southern culture in 1966 when i was drafted and went to ft. jackson,s. c. then on to ft. gordan, ga. met a couple of locals and we had alot of good conversation. never could disagree with their views. pretty much adopted culture, community and country. back in those days going to canada, australia and scandanavia was popular. still believe inthe love it or leave it!! i'm an american first and foremost- not irish-american but an american with irish backround. it is our responsibility to pass this heritage on to our families. the school system isn't going to reinforce conservative values- parents must!!!

Sweet Home Alabama, that right, Don? I still miss it. Someday when luck finds a way, somewhere high on Lookout Mountain, I'll just smile with pride, and say that my home's in Alabama.

Hmmmm... So, ummm... I'm definitely a northerner... and politically right leaning... This makes me a yankee? How can yankees be born in Idaho? :)

Briar,

You know my posistion on that war, if you remember, (If the South would have won, we'd have it made)but the South fired the first shot, at some soldiers who were doing their job, not aggresssing anybody! did they not?

I believe a few careless fools started a War that could have been avoided.

Kinda Southern Aggresion,eh???

I think we all have learned that the US does not like to be shot at.

Case in point.........

I DID read Briar!

That dude would have been one of the careless fools I was talking about!

He makes some good points, but it is lost in the radical rantings.

I bet he is selling the crap out of flags, though. :D
