OK, I searched all over the damn place and nobody says anything about keeping the OEM fog lights while using the DOR front bumper. I love the bumper but can you keep your lights?

Thanks,

Mike

I suppose you could, but the factory fog lights are pretty wimpy, IMO. You'd have to fabricate a bracket to hold them to the bumper -- probably better off to get some brighter fog lamps that already come with brackets. Run them off the existing wiring for the factory lights.

So the answer would be no they dont work with the DOR bumper (I wouldn't drill on a new $1500 bumper) good question I was wondering the same thing thanks for asking

Mike,

I don't think anyone has ever tried to mount factory light on a DOR bumper. They are not very good. You could figure out a way but I don't remember what the stock light housings look like. I put piaa 80xt on top of the bumper and 1500 fogs on the front frame cross member.

You can hook up most lights through the factory fog wiring if you like.

Going with the sugestion of adding to the stock wiring how many or how much wattage or amps (I dont know) could you put on the stock switch and wiring without overload?

Yeah I figured on using the wiring from the OEM lights. I'd still like to use them since I already paid for them. After doing a lot of searching around I believe Prozap is the only company that incorporates the OEM lights in their bumper. This isn't a plug for them b/c they're one of the most expensive aftermarket bumpers out there. I do like the idea of stainless but too much weight. I am leaning toward DOR but Buck Stop seems pretty good also. I don't know it's a lot of cabbage anyway you look at it. :-laf

I too had the stock fog's but when the DOR got put on I sold the stock bumper lights and all to offset... well, ok, pay for the aftermarket lights. The DOR already has the tabs to mount lights built into the bumper. Some aftermarket lights can also be put under the bumper using a pinch bracket (no drilling required). I just knew the OEM's were way too wimpy to continue their life on my truck. My temporary fog lights are wired to the existing wiring from the old lights and they work good. Now to get those aircraft landing lights... :D :D :D

I have the DOR and retrofitted the stock fogs on. It took all of 20 minutes. Yeah I did have to drill but they are small holes. The stock fogs do suck compared to aftermarket but I couldn't afford real lights after buying the bumper. I just put them approximately where they were on the stock bumper drilled the bumper for the mounts (which are on the top or inside on the bottom if that makes sense) ran some small bolts up through the bottom plate through the mounts with washers and nuts. Then after it got dark used the adjustment screw on them to re-aim them. They work as good as they did before. They do barely fit the mounts are pretty funky curved but if you sit them back as far as you can they work fine.

Does anyone have a webpage for DOR?? I was wondering if they might consider frenching a set of 6" fogs into the bumper. . like the buck stop bumper. . wished the buck stop was aluminum instead of steel - would save 100#. .

I remember reading somewhere that the DOR guy (can't remember his name off hand) wouldn't put a pocket for the factory fogs cause they would be so prone to rock chips etc. I know earth roamer has some lights mounted off the bottom of his DOR. When I win the lotto it will be a similiar setup to Earthroamer's.

Cumapart - I know that toughcountry has cutouts in their bumper for fog lights (not sure if factory or not) and I think Reunel does too...
