For sale is my 2006 Chevy 2500 Crew cab shortbed 4x4. It has the 8. 1L with an Allison trans. Very clean with no rust and minor scuffs and a few little scratches. It does have rock chips on the nose of the hood. It was a fleet vehicle before I bought it, which was used to travel between Chicago and Arizona carrying supplies in the bed only, for conventions and never had a hitch until I bought it. I never got around to installing the wiring, so it still has never towed anything. It has 162k miles, but you would never no it from the condition and wear. The driver seat isn't even worn like a normally used truck from getting in and out. I have all service records from the day it was new which the previous owner gave me. It has recent brakes and new tires at 158k. The truck is black with charcoal cloth interior. It runs perfect and rides great. I'm looking to get back into a Cummins truck again so this has to go. I'm asking $13,500 o. b. o. , I'd like to keep this some what local, but might be able to work something out if I have too. I can send pictures if interested. Call or text me at 630-746-7515, or PM me for more info.

If you Notice Most on TDR are Not Chevy fan's I think you would have better luck on a chevy site or even E bay

I need to ask... what kind of gas mileage does a 500 cubic inch gasser get? I know the 6. 0 gasser wasn't a fuel sipper... curious about what a 8. 1 consumes...

Yes, I am aware this is not a truck that probably will sell on here. It's an option though. I have it listed other places as well. And depending on driving habits, the 8. 1l doesn't do very well any way you drive. I usually get around 8/9. 5mpg city, and about 13mpg highway. It does have plenty of power though! Defenately not a cummins though, which is what I'm hoping to get back to!

Doesn't seem like a bad choice for a work truck, really. Towing coast to coast would be cost prohibitive, but local work would be a good place for it.
I just retired an old U-Haul box truck with a 460 gasser that consistently achieved 3. 5-3. 75 mpg. Luckily, it only got driven about 5,000 miles per year.
Good luck. I doubt you will have a hard time finding somebody to buy it.

Just for comparison we recently bought a running independant shop and got three vehicles with the deal. I took one of the vehicles home to see what I had, it is a 2006 Chevy 3/4 ton 4X4 with the 6. 0L gasser. I reset the mileage computer before striking out and with the southbound trip being on I-95 at 70 mph and the return trip being on US Route 2 at slower speeds it just made it to the 13 mpg mark as I pulled in the driveway. So if that big boy is getting the same it is not doing too awful bad.

Mike. :)

My big block loving uncle always had an addage - "Theres no replacement for displacement"

The way he ran em, they were lucky to last a month of sundays

I think what helps the 8. 1L get that 13mpg is the 6-speed trans. That 6th gear seems tall! Compared to the 6. 0l there isn't to much of a difference for the amount of motor there is. Hopefully I find a buyer soon. It has to go. I'm down to $11,800. It was appraised at $15k. Who knows. It's a very hard truck to sell. Just have to find the right person.
