Some time ago I found a blown intake gasket, replacing it improved the trucks preformance a lot. It just wasn't right yet. In talking with Mark at Piers Diesel performance, he said to plug the ins and outs and apply air pressure to the turn of 20 psi to see if there were any leaks. I know this company that makes polyurthane stuff. I asked him to make me two 3" discs that I could use to test my intake system. He did and even put a air line quick disconnect in one of them to pressurize the intake system. At home I drilled and taped and added a 0-30 gauge on the other "puck". I removed the hose off the bottom side of the turbo and the hose that goes to the ATS Arc flow intake. Everything was fine, no leaks. So, I put the hose back on the Arc flow and repressurized the system. It hisssssssssssssed like a snake. I found that the plastic tube that goes from the intake to the boost gauge had a hole burned in it. To correct this, I replace the burned section with 1/8" copper tube up to the fire wall and a coupler to the plastic where it went through the fire wall and to the gauge. This time all was quiet.
After warming up the rig. I got after it and the boost gauge went "OFF" the end of the guage and the exhaust temp never got over 1200*. Oo.
Finally, the Schwitzer 62/14 turbo showed off it's power and the truck "LEFT THE BUILDING" I'd always shift the ATS auto trans through the gears using the column shifter. I had to move the shift lever fast. as soon as I dropped it in another gear it was time to move to the next. I was light years ahead of traffic. I'm soooooooooooo impressed now.
Next test will be when I load up the 5'r and see if it'll tug as well as fly.
And they want to total it!!!!!
